Veodalen
Veodalen is a valley in Lom and Vågå municipalities in Innlandet county, Norway. The long valley lies on the south side of the main Ottadalen valley. The valley begins at the Veobreen glacier, which is surrounded by the mountains Veobretinden, Veopallan, and Veotinden in the Jotunheimen mountains. The valley then follows the river Veo to the east. The valley ends where the river joins the river Sjoa and the valley becomes part of the larger Sjodalen valley. A road runs through most of the valley, all the way up to the Glitterheim tourist cabin, about from the innermost part of the valley. Jotunheimen
Jotunheimen (; "the home of the Jötunn") is a mountainous area of roughly in southern Norway and is part of the long range known as the Scandinavian Mountains. The 29 highest mountains in Norway are all located in the Jotunheimen mountains, including the tall mountain Galdhøpiggen (the highest point in Norway). The Jotunheimen mountains straddle the border between Innlandet and Vestland counties (historically part of the old Oppland and Sogn og Fjordane counties). Tourism Jotunheimen is very popular with hikers and climbers, and the Norwegian Mountain Touring Association maintains a number of mountain lodges in the area, as well as marked trails that run between the lodges and others that run up to some of the peaks. Jotunheimen National Park
Jotunheimen National Park ( no, Jotunheimen nasjonalpark, "Home of the Giants") is a national park in Norway, recognized as one of the country's premier hiking and fishing regions. The national park covers and is part of the larger area Jotunheimen. More than 250 peaks rise above an elevation of , including Northern Europe's two highest peaks: Galdhøpiggen at , and Glittertind at . The national park covers most of the mountainous region of Jotunheimen, including Hurrungane, but Utladalen and its surroundings are within Utladalen Landscape Protection Area. Geographically, it lies in both Innlandet and Vestland counties. Geologically the Jotunheimen is a Precambrian province. Glitterheim
Glitterheim is a mountain cabin in the valley of Veodalen in Jotunheimen, Norway. It is owned by the Norwegian Mountain Touring Association (DNT). Innlandet
Innlandet is a county in Norway. It was created on 1 January 2020 with the merger of the old counties of Oppland and Hedmark (the municipalities of Jevnaker and Lunner were transferred to the neighboring county of Viken on the same date). The new county has an area of , making it the second largest county in Norway after Troms og Finnmark county. The county name translates to "The Inland" which reflects that the county is the only landlocked county in Norway. The county covers approximately 17% of the total area of the mainland area of Norway. It stretches from the Viken county and the Oslo region in the south to Trøndelag county in the north. Kunnskapsforlaget () is a Norwegian publishing company based in Oslo. Kunnskapsforlaget was established in 1975, as a partnership between H. Aschehoug & Co. (W. Nygaard) and Gyldendal Norsk Forlag. Sjodalen
Sjodalen is a wide, gently sloping valley in Southern Norway, draining the eastern parts of Jotunheimen. The river Sjoa gives its name to the valley. Sjodalen is generally accepted to start at the outlet from the deep mountain-lake Gjende. The valley's lower end-point is, however less defined as the valley is named Heidal east of Randsverk. Perhaps the most easy definition is to state that the valley draining Sjoa is named Sjodalen in Vågå and Heidal in Sel municipalities. History The valley was traditionally used for summer farming. What is particular for the valley is the size and state of these summer farms ('' sæter'' in Norwegian). This is partly caused by the very rare tradition of winter-farming in this region. Rather than bringing the summer harvest down into the village and main farm, the farmers took the animals back up into the mountains during winter. The Sjoa is a river in Innlandet county, Norway. The long river runs through the municipalities of Vågå and Sel and it provides the outlet from lake Gjende at Gjendesheim in the Jotunheimen mountains of Norway's Jotunheim National Park. The river flows eastward through the Sjodalen valley and Heidal valley into the Gudbrandsdalslågen river at the village of Sjoa. South of the village of Randsverk, the river flows through ''Ridderspranget'' which is a ravine named after a Norwegian myth. Veotinden
Veotinden is a mountain on the border of Vågå Municipality and Lom Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. The tall mountain is located in the Jotunheimen mountains within Jotunheimen National Park. The mountain sits about south of the village of Fossbergom and about southwest of the village of Vågåmo. The mountain is surrounded by several other notable mountains including Styggehøbretindan and Styggehøi to the east; Blåbreahøe to the southeast; Memurutindene to the southwest; Veobreahesten, Veobretinden, and Leirhøi to the northwest; and Veopallan to the north.
