Vandread
is a Japanese anime series directed by Takeshi Mori (director), Takeshi Mori and created by the List of animation studios, animation studios Gonzo (company), Gonzo and Media Factory. The series is composed of two seasons (''Vandread'', released in 2000 and ''Vandread: The Second Stage'', released in 2001), each composed of thirteen episodes of twenty-five minutes. The first series is summarized in the ''Vandread Taidōhen'' ("Integral") Original Video Animation, OVA in 2001, and the second in the ''Vandread Gekitōhen'' ("Turbulence") OVA, released in 2002. There is a ''Vandread Extra Stage Novel'', that explains the events after ''Vandread: The Second Stage''. Along with acquiring the licenses for the two original series from NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan, Geneon, Funimation also licensed the two OVAs. Vandread Extra Stage
''Vandread Extra Stage'' ({{lang, ja, ヴァンドレッド the extra stage) is a light novel containing a collection of five short stories about several important characters from the anime Vandread. The book is set in the same story as the anime, however some of the stories are set before and after the series. Plot summaries Barnette & Jura Story This is the first and longest story in the book. Taking place before the series begins, the story mainly focuses on the relationship between Jura and Barnette, starting from when Barnette joins the pirates. Takeshi Mori (director)
is a Japanese anime director, storyboard artist, and scriptwriter. After graduating from Waseda University, Mori began working in the anime industry. He began working in 1986 at Ajia-do Animation Works as an in-between animation artist before moving on to key animation work. From there, he worked as a storyboard artist and producer for the NTV/Studio Pierrot TV series '' The Burning Wild Man''. After being impressed by the OVA series ''Gunbuster'', he began working for Gainax.
