Volopa Irish Challenge
The Irish Challenge is a golf tournament on the Challenge Tour. In 2021 it was held at Portmarnock Hotel & Golf Links. The first event was played in October 2015 and was won by Tom Murray who beat Nino Bertasio at the second hole of a sudden-death playoff, winning the first prize of €28,800. The 2019 event was reduced to 54 holes after the final was abandoned because of heavy rain. Emilio Cuartero and Oscar Lengdén Oscar Lengdén (born 12 May 1992) is a Swedish professional golfer. Kells, County Meath
Kells (; ) is a town in County Meath, Ireland. The town lies off the M3 motorway, from Navan and from Dublin. Along with other towns in County Meath, it is within the " commuter belt" for Dublin, and had a population of 6,135 as of the 2016 census. It is best known as the site of Kells Abbey, from which the Book of Kells takes its name. The Kildare Hotel and Golf Club (abbreviated The K Club) is a golf and leisure complex in the Republic of Ireland, located at Straffan, County Kildare. It is built on the original grounds of the Straffan estate, incorporating the 1830s Straffan House, and was owned by Michael Smurfit. History In 1831, Hugh Barton of the wine firm Barton and Guestier bought land at Straffan and nearby Barberstown Castle from the Henry family and had Straffan House built whilst he and his wife stayed at Barberstown. Completed in 1832, the design was based on a French chateau, with the later addition of a bell-tower, and now forms the east wing of the present complex. Steven Brown (born 7 May 1987) is an English professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. He won the 2019 Portugal Masters. Amateur career Brown won the 2011 English Amateur. The same year he was runner-up in the European Amateur, losing to Manuel Trappel in a playoff, and runner-up to Andy Sullivan in the Scottish Amateur Stroke Play Championship. Julien Guerrier (born 1 July 1985) is a French professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. He won the 2006 Amateur Championship. Amateur career Guerrier was born in Évreux. He had a successful amateur career, which included winning The Amateur Championship in 2006 at Royal St George's Golf Club. He turned professional after competing in the 2007 Masters Tournament. Oliver John Wilson (born 14 September 1980) is an English professional golfer. Wilson was a member of the 2008 Ryder Cup, but had to wait another six years for his first European Tour win, the 2014 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. Amateur career Wilson was born in Mansfield, England, where his golfing career began at Coxmoor Golf Club, having been a junior at Oakmere Park Golf Club.
