2019 Challenge Tour
The 2019 Challenge Tour was a series of professional golf tournaments collectively known as the Challenge Tour. The Challenge Tour is Europe's official developmental tour and is organised by the PGA European Tour. It was introduced in 1986 and was originally called the Satellite Tour, before being renamed with its present title in 1990. Schedule The following table lists official events during the 2019 season. Unofficial events The following events were sanctioned by the Challenge Tour, but did not carry official money, nor were wins official. Challenge Tour Rankings ''For full rankings, see 2019 Challenge Tour graduates.'' The rankings were titled as the Road to Mallorca and were based on prize money won during the season, calculated using a points-based system. The top 15 players on the tour earned status to play on the 2020 European Tour. Calum Hill
Calum Edward Hill (born 3 November 1994) is a Scottish professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. He won the 2021 Cazoo Classic on the European Tour and has three wins on the Challenge Tour. Amateur career Hill attended the Western New Mexico University in Silver City, New Mexico from 2012 to 2016. In May 2016, he played in the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championships, finishing runner-up in the individual competition. After graduating with a degree in accounting he stayed on for a further two years, completing a Masters in Business Administration (MBA). During this period he was an assistant golf coach for the university team. He turned professional in April 2017. Professional career Hill played a limited number of events while studying for his MBA. Matthew Jordan (born 18 January 1996) is an English professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. Amateur career Jordan had a successful amateur career. He won the St Andrews Links Trophy in 2017 and in 2018 he won the Lytham Trophy by 9 strokes. Eirik Tage Johansen
Eirik Tage Johansen (born 23 May 1982) is a Norwegian professional golfer. Johansen was born in the United States, and returned to the country of his birth as a successful amateur golfer, taking up a golf scholarship at the University of South Carolina, where he was a member of the golf team. After graduating in 2006, he turned professional, and immediately won a place on the European Tour after advancing through qualifying school. After a disappointing first season, he dropped down to the second-tier Challenge Tour for 2008, but was once again successful at qualifying school at the end of that season. Johansen has retained his place on the European Tour from 2009 to 2011, although he had to return to qualifying school every year. Andalucía Costa Del Sol Match Play 9
The Andalucía Costa del Sol Match Play 9 is a golf tournament on the Challenge Tour, played in Spain. It is a mixed stroke-play and match-play event, broadly similar to the World Super 6 Perth, the main difference being that the match-play matches are over 9 holes rather than 6. Aaron Rai won the inaugural tournament, beating Gavin Moynihan in the final. The inaugural event was held at La Cala Resort before moving to Valle Romano Golf in 2018 and 2019. Robin Roussel
Robin Roussel (born 26 August 1993) is a French professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. In May 2019, he won the Hauts de France – Pas de Calais Golf Openon the Challenge Tour. Professional career As an amateur, Roussel reached the final stage of the 2015 European Tour Q-school after a final round 62. Although he missed the cut in the final stage, he gained a place on the 2016 Challenge Tour. He turned professional before the start of the season. The Saint-Omer Open is an annual men's professional golf tournament played at Saint-Omer Golf Club in Saint-Omer, France. The tournament was founded in 1997 and was part of the MasterCard Tour a year later, before taking its place on the Challenge Tour for the 2000 season. In 2003 it also became an official money event on the European Tour The European Tour (currently known as the DP World Tour for sponsorship reasons), legally the PGA European Tour is the leading men's professional golf tour in Europe. Ricardo Santos (golfer)
Ricardo Santos (born 7 September 1982) is a Portuguese professional golfer who plays on the Challenge Tour. He won the 2012 Madeira Islands Open. Professional career Santos turned professional in 2006. From 2007 to 2011 he played regularly on the Challenge Tour. In 2007, he was given an invite to the Madeira Islands Open on the European Tour, and led after the first round. He began the 2011 season well, making nine of his first ten cuts, including seven top-15 finishes. He then recorded his first Challenge Tour victory at The Princess, which took him to the top of the tour rankings. Swiss Challenge
The Swiss Challenge is a golf tournament on the Challenge Tour, held in Switzerland, except in 2021, when it was held in France. History It was first played as the Credit Suisse Private Banking Open in 2000 and 2001 at the Golf Club Patriziale Ascona in Ascona. It replaced the Interlaken Open which ended after financial issues. During the course of the 2002 edition, the heavy rain led to the overflow of the Lake Maggiore and to the cancellation of the event. Following a four-year hiatus, the tournament returned in 2006 and was held at the Wylihof Golf Club in Luterbach through 2009. Since 2010 the event has been played at Golf Sempachersee in Hildisrieden. In 2021, the event was uniquely held in France.
