Volleyball Federation Of Armenia
The Volleyball Federation of Armenia (VFA) ( hy, Հայաստանի վոլեյբոլի ֆեդերացիա), also known as the Armenian Volleyball Federation, is the regulating body of volleyball, beach volleyball, and snow volleyball in Armenia, governed by the Armenian Olympic Committee. The headquarters of the federation is located in Yerevan. History Volleyball has always been a popular sport in Armenia, with a volleyball school operating in Yerevan since 1972. Before Armenia's independence, Armenian volleyball athletes participated in international competitions as part of the Soviet Union. The Federation was established in 1991 and is currently led by president Hrachya Muradyan. Beach Volleyball
Beach volleyball is a team sport played by two teams of two or more players on a sand court divided by a net. Similar to indoor volleyball, the objective of the game is to send the ball over the net and to ground it on the opponent's side of the court. Each team also works in unison to prevent the opposing team from grounding the ball on their side of the court. Teams are allowed up to three touches to return the ball across the net, and individual players may not touch the ball twice consecutively except after a touch off an attempted block. Making a block touch leaves only two more touches before the ball must be hit over. The ball is put in play with a serve—a hit by the server from behind the rear court boundary over the net to the opponents. Snow Volleyball
Snow volleyball is a winter team sport played by two teams of three players on a snow court divided by a net. The objective of each team is to score points by sending a ball over the net so as to ground it on the opponent's court, and to prevent the same effort by the opponent. A team is allowed up to three touches to return the ball across the net, and individual players may not touch the ball twice consecutively. The sport originated in Austria as a variant of beach volleyball, with a local Snow Volleyball Tour being established in 2009. Sevan ( hy, Սեւան) is a town and urban municipal community, as well as one of the most popular resorts in Armenia, located in the Gegharkunik Province on the northwestern shores of Lake Sevan. Tsaghkadzor
Tsaghkadzor ( hy, Ծաղկաձոր) is a spa town and urban municipal community, as well as one of the most popular health resorts in Armenia, located north of the capital Yerevan in the Kotayk Province. According to the 2011 census, the town has a population of 1,256, down from 3,350 reported in the 1989 census.
