Vizontele
''Vizontele'' is a 2001 Turkish comedy-drama film, written and directed by Yılmaz Erdoğan and co-directed by Ömer Faruk Sorak, based on the writer-director's childhood memories of the arrival of the first television to his village in the early 1970s. The film, which went on nationwide release on , won three Golden Orange awards and was one of the most successful Turkish films to that date. A sequel, entitled Vizontele Tuuba, involving the director and most of the original cast followed in 2004. Production The film was shot on location in Gevaş, Van Province, Turkey. Yılmaz Erdoğan
Yılmaz Erdoğan (born 4 November 1967) is a Turkish filmmaker, actor and poet who is most famous for his box-office record-breaking debut comedy film ''Vizontele'' (2001) and the television series ''Bir Demet Tiyatro'' (1995–2002/2006–2007). He founded BKM Theatre and Film Production. He was awarded the Best Supporting Actor at 4th Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards for his performance in ''The Water Diviner'' (2014). ''Vizontele Tuuba'' is a 2004 Turkish comedy-drama film, written and directed by Yılmaz Erdoğan, based on the writer-director's childhood memories of the last summer of his childhood in village in 1980. The film, which went on nationwide release on , was a sequel to the highly successful Vizontele (2001). Production The film was shot on location in Gevaş, Van Province and Ağrı Province, Turkey. Synopsis Five years after the events of the first film, Guner Sernikli is a government official who, with his wife Aysel and their wheelchair-bound daughter Tuba, has been assigned as the head librarian to Crazy Emin's village, even though there is no library. Kardeş Türküler (translated either as Brotherly Songs or as Ballads of Fraternity) is a contemporary Turkish ethnic/folkloric band. It was formed in 1993 with a series of stage performances given by the music branch of the Folklore Club at Boğaziçi University in Istanbul, Turkey. Origins The diverse ethnic groups in this ancient Anatolia region and the Balkans initially gave cause for the concerts to have artists perform interpretations of Anatolian folksongs in Turkish, Arabic, Kurdish, Assyrian, Azerbaijani, Georgian and Armenian. Erdal Tosun (April 9, 1963 – November 30, 2016) was a Turkish actor.
