Vivian Suter
Vivian Suter (born 1949) is a Swiss-Argentinian painter. Early life Suter was born in Buenos Aires. Her mother, Elisabeth Wild, was a noted collage artist. At the age of 12, Suter moved to Basel, Switzerland with her family. Career In the 1970s she exhibited in a group show at Stampa gallery in Basel, Switzerland. In 1981, she was part of a group exhibition at the Kunsthalle Basel. In 1982 she moved to a former coffee plantation in the rainforest of Panajachel, Guatemala. Suter attracted little critical attention between until 2011, when the curator Adam Szymczyk contacted her to recreate the 1981 group show at the Kunsthalle Basel. Since 2011 she has held numerous significant solo shows in European and North American galleries and museums. Elisabeth Wild
Elisabeth Wild (6 February 1922 – 12 February 2020) was an Austrian collage artist. Early life and education Born in Europe, Wild emigrated to Argentina with her parents in Franz and Stefanie Pollack in 1938. Wild studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, and drawing at the Círculo de Bellas Artes of Buenos Aires. In Buenos Aires, she worked as a textile designer, and later married a textile factory owner August Wild. In 1962 she and her husband sold their company and moved the family to Basel. In 2007 she moved to Guatemala to live with Vivian Suter, her daughter, in a former coffee plantation next to Lake Atitlán. Career Wild exhibited with her daughter Vivian Suter in several two-person shows, including at the Mistake Room in Los Angeles in 2015, Proyectos Ultravioleta in 2016, Kharma International, Karma International in Los Angeles in 2017, and The Power Plant in Toronto in 2018. The Power Plant
The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery is a Canadian non-collecting public contemporary art gallery located at the heart of Toronto, Ontario at the Harbourfront Centre. It is a registered Canadian charitable organization supported by its members, sponsors, donors, and funding bodies at all levels of government. Initially established as the Art Gallery at Harbourfront in 1976, the Power Plant was officially opened in 1987 in its current location. It has presented new and recent work by living Canadian and international artists, mounting both major solo shows and thematic group exhibitions. Kassel (; in Germany, spelled Cassel until 1926) is a city on the Fulda River in northern Hesse, Germany. documenta 14 was the fourteenth edition of the art exhibition documenta and took place in 2017 in both Kassel, Germany, its traditional home, and Athens, Greece. It was held first in Athens from 8 April to 16 July, and in Kassel from 10 June to 17 September 2017. As part of the concept of the artistic director Adam Szymczyk, the exhibition proceeded in both countries with most featured artists working at both locations.
