Vivaceta Metro Station
Vivaceta is an underground metro station of Line 3 of the Santiago Metro network, in Santiago, Chile. It is an underground, between the Cardenal Caro and Conchalí stations on Line 3. It is located at the intersection of Independencia Avenue with Paisaje Vecinal. The station was opened on 22 January 2019 as part of the inaugural section of the line, from Los Libertadores to Fernando Castillo Velasco. Etymology The station is located a few meters from the Avenida Fermín Vivaceta. This avenue recalls Fermín Vivaceta Fermín Vivaceta Rupio (January 12, 1829 – February 21, 1890) was a Chilean architect, teacher and firefighter. The San Francisco Church (Spanish: ''Iglesia de San Francisco'') is a Franciscan church on Avenida Libertador General Bernardo O'Higgins, in the downtown of Santiago de Chile. The church, along with the adjacent convent, is one of the oldest colonial-era buildings in the country. It has been resistant to about 15 earthquakes of magnitude over 7. History The church was consecrated in 1622. The first bell tower was destroyed by an earthquake in 1647 and its collapse caused damage in a part of the choir. The rest of the building successfully resisted it. In 1730 another earthquake badly damaged the rebuilt tower, which was demolished in 1751. Fermín Vivaceta Rupio (January 12, 1829 – February 21, 1890) was a Chilean architect, teacher and firefighter. Life Vivaceta was born in Santiago, Chile on January 12, 1829. He was son of Fermín Vivaceta, an Argentinean citizen residing in Chile, and Juana Rupio. He was from a working-class family. From the age of thirteen, he was employed as an apprentice in a furniture factory during the day, while studying during the night. In 1846, he attended Instituto Nacional to study drawing, a course that was arranged by the government of Manuel Bulnes to train workers in industrial drawing. He also studied geometry and general mathematics. In 1850, he was one of the first students of the ''Academia de Bellas Artes'' and became an architect. His architectural work was influenced by his mentor, the French architect François Brunet de Baines, who was also his partner in various of his works. Fernando Castillo Velasco Metro Station
Fernando Castillo Velasco is an underground metro station and the southern terminal station of Line 3 of the Santiago Metro network, in Santiago, Chile. It is located underground, at the intersection of Alcalde Fernando Castillo Velasco Avenue with Loreley Street. It the current terminal station of Line 3, preceded by the Plaza Egaña station. Construction of the 6.5 km tunnel between Irarrázaval and Fernando Castillo Velasco was completed in 2017 on a budget of 145 million euro. The station was opened on 22 January 2019 as part of the inaugural section of the line, from Los Libertadores to Fernando Castillo Velasco. Etymology The name is in tribute to the former mayor of La Reina Fernando Castillo Velasco, who died in 2013. The Santiago Metro ( es, Metro de Santiago) is a rapid transit system serving the city of Santiago, the capital of Chile. It currently consists of seven lines (numbered 1-6 and 4A), 136 stations, and of revenue route.
