Vitaly Pisarenko
Vitaly Pisarenko (Ukrainian : Віталій Писаренко; born 24 July 1987) is a Ukrainian pianist. He was the winner of the International Franz Liszt Piano Competition in 2008. Vitaly Pisarenko was born in Kiev, and performed for the first time in public when he was six years old. He studied in Kharkiv and Kyiv, and in 2005 entered the Professor Yuri Slesarev's class at the Moscow State Conservatory. He also studied at the Rotterdam Conservatory Codarts, under Aquiles Delle Vigne. Pisarenko has performed as a soloist in Russia, Italy, Macedonia, Austria, the Netherlands and Germany. He won first prize at the "Inter Fest Bitola" competition in Dnevnik ( Macedonia) in October 2005. He also won the 3rd prize, the audience prize and the special prize of Fazıl Say at the 5th Franz Liszt Competition in Weimar in 2006. Weimar is a city in the state of Thuringia, Germany. Leeds International Piano Competition
The Leeds International Piano Competition, informally known as The Leeds and formerly the Leeds International Pianoforte Competition, takes place every three years in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It was founded in 1961 by Marion, Countess of Harewood, Dame Fanny Waterman, and Roslyn Lyons, with the first competition being held in 1963. Waterman was the chair and artistic director up to the 2015 competition when Paul Lewis and Adam Gatehouse became Co-Artistic Directors. The first round of the competition takes place internationally and in 2021 went 'virtual' when 63 pianists were recorded in 17 international locations and the Jury deliberated online, in order to circumvent the various impacts of Covid. Fazıl Say (; born 14 January 1970 in Ankara) is a Turkish pianist and composer. Life and career Fazıl Say was born in 1970. His father, Ahmet Say was an author and musicologist. His mother, Gürgün Say was a pharmacist. His grandfather Fazıl Say with whom he shares the same name with was a member of the Spartakusbund. Say was a child prodigy, who was able to do basic arithmetic with 4-digit numbers at the age of two. His father, having found out that he was playing the melody of "Daha Dün Annemizin" (Turkish version of Ah! vous dirai-je, maman) on a makeshift flute with no prior training, enlisted the help of Ali Kemal Kaya, an oboist and family friend.
