Vital Remains
Vital Remains is an American death metal band from Providence, Rhode Island, formed in 1988. History Formation and early years Guitarist Paul Flynn formed Vital Remains in 1988. Vital Remains' first line-up included Paul Flynn on lead guitar, Butch Machado on rhythm guitar, vocalist Mike Flynn, bassist Tom Supkow and drummer Chris Dupont. Mike Flynn is credited with coining the band's name. Paul soon revamped the band with musicians that fit his vision, and added Tony Lazaro and vocalist Jeff Gruslin to the line-up. Lazaro and Flynn shared the song writing duties, and released a pair of demos (1989's ''Reduced to Ashes'' and 1990's ''Excruciating Pain''). The band secured a contract with French label Thrash Records, and released the single "The Black Mass" in 1991. Dechristianize (album)
''Dechristianize'' is the fifth album by American death metal band Vital Remains. It was released on August 22, 2003. The lyrics deal with the Dechristianization of France during the French Revolution. The intro - "Let the Killing Begin" - features a section of Carl Orff's "O Fortuna (Orff), O Fortuna" and voices from the film ''The Greatest Story Ever Told''. This album was the first to feature Deicide (band), Deicide vocalist Glen Benton, and is generally considered to be the band's breakthrough album. Dave Suzuki (born February 8, 1972) is an American death metal multi-instrumentalist from Las Vegas, Nevada. He is best known for his work as the guitarist, lyricist, bassist, and drummer for Vital Remains from 1995 to 2007 and as a touring guitarist with Deicide from 2004 to 2005. Since 2011, he has been the guitarist and vocalist for the doom/death metal band Churchburn. His work can be heard on Vital Remains' ''Forever Underground'' (1997), ''Dawn of the Apocalypse'' (2000), '' Dechristianize'' (2003), and '' Icons of Evil'' (2007). Hour of Penance is a technical death metal band from Rome, Italy that was formed in 1999. History Their first demo came out in 2000 and was followed by their first album, ''Disturbance'', released under Spanish label Xtreem Music in 2003.
