Ville Ahonen
Ville Ahonen (born 14 October 1994) is a Finnish cross-country skier. Career At the Junior World Championships he competed in 2013 and 2016 (U23) with modest results. He made his World Cup debut in March 2015 in Lahti. A breakthrough was his 16th place in the Oberstdorf sprint during the 2021–22 Tour de Ski. During the late 2021–22 FIS Cross-Country World Cup season, he collected World Cup points with 22nd places in Lahti and Holmenkollen, and began the 2022–23 season with a 15th place in the Beitostølen sprint. He equalled that placement in March 2023 in Lahti, and improved further to a 14th place in the Lahti 20 kilometres in March 2024. Holmenkollen Ski Festival
The Holmenkollen Ski Festival ( no, Holmenkollen skifestival or ) is a traditional annual Nordic skiing event in Holmenkollen, Oslo, Norway. The full official name of the event is Holmenkollen FIS World Cup Nordic. History It takes place in March and has been arranged every year since 1892, except for 1898 and during World War II (1941–1945). The event is arranged by Skiforeningen and takes place at Holmenkollen National Arena and ski jumping hills Holmenkollbakken and Midtstubakken. In 2009 Holmenkollen was under renovation and replacement races were held in Trondheim for cross-country skiing and biathlon, and in Vikersund for ski jumping and nordic combined. In 2011, Holmenkollen hosted the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships and there was no separate Holmenkollen Ski Festival. Beitostølen
Beitostølen is a village in Øystre Slidre Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. The village is located at an elevation of about above mean sea level on the southern edge of the Valdresflye mountain plateau. The villages of Skammestein and Hegge lie about to the southeast of Beitostølen. The lake Øyangen lies a short distance to the southwest of the village. The 2021–22 FIS Cross-Country World Cup was the 41st official FIS Cross-Country World Cup, World Cup season in cross-country skiing (sport), cross-country skiing for men and women. The season began on 26 November 2021 in Rukatunturi, Ruka, Finland and was scheduled to conclude with the World Cup Finals on 18–20 March 2022 in Tyumen, Russia. But after the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, Russian invasion of Ukraine FIS announced that the World Cup Finals would be cancelled or moved. As a result, the final competition was the mixed team events on 13 March 2022 in Falun, Sweden. Cross-country skiing is a form of skiing where skiers rely on their own locomotion to move across snow-covered terrain, rather than using ski lifts or other forms of assistance. Cross-country skiing is widely practiced as a sport and recreational activity; however, some still use it as a means of transportation. Variants of cross-country skiing are adapted to a range of terrain which spans unimproved, sometimes mountainous terrain to groomed courses that are specifically designed for the sport. 2021–22 Tour De Ski
The 2021–22 Tour de Ski was the 16th edition of the Tour de Ski and part of the 2021–22 FIS Cross-Country World Cup. The World Cup stage event began in Lenzerheide, Switzerland on 28 December 2021 and concluded with the Final Climb stage in Val di Fiemme, Italy, on 4 January 2022. The tour was the fourth edition starting in Lenzerheide. Alexander Bolshunov from Russia and Jessie Diggins from United States were the title defenders. Bolshunov wasn't able to win, as Johannes Høsflot Klæbo from Norway took the yellow bib on first stage and extended the lead over Russian to over two minutes. Oberstdorf ( Low Alemannic: ''Oberschdorf'') is a municipality and skiing and hiking town in Germany, located in the Allgäu region of the Bavarian Alps. It is the southernmost settlement in Germany and one of its highest towns. At the center of Oberstdorf is a church whose tall spire serves as a landmark for navigating around town.
