Videotage () is a Hong Kong-based Nonprofit organization, non-profit art organisation dedicated to nurturing emerging media artists and the development of the local new media art community. Since 1986, Videotage has evolved from an Artist collective, artist-run collective to a platform fostering the promotion, presentation, creation and preservation of new media art. Videotage has organised numerous events and programs including exhibitions, presentations, festivals, seminars, workshops, performances, residency program and cultural exchange programs, as well as continually distributing artworks through its networks and publications.Lai, C. Ellen Pau
Ellen Pau is an artist, curator and researcher based in Hong Kong. She is also co-founder oVideotageand founding artistic director of the Microwave International New Media Arts Festival. The artist's first retrospective exhibition in Hong Kong was organized by Para Site in 2018. The exhibition included major video installations ranging from the 1980s to the present. Early life Pau graduated from Diagnostic Radiography in 1985 at Hong Kong Polytechnic University and has worked as a professional radiographer and mammographer in Queen Mary Hospital. Ellen Pau was born to a family of medical doctors. Growing up, she was immersed in an intellectual environment enriched by her father's intensive scientific knowledge. Microwave International New Media Arts Festival () is a new media art festival based in Hong Kong. It began in 1996 as the annual video art festival for local video art collective Videotage. In 2006, it became independent from Videotage and in 2007 it officially became fully independent as the government's previous "presenter" role was handed over to Microwave. The government remains the main sponsor of the Festival, although many more sponsors are sought for each year's Festival. The annual festival generally includes a main exhibition at the Hong Kong City Hall, a smaller scale and usually more alternative exhibition in a separate venue, a keynote conference, performances, screening programmes and other special events organised each year. May Fung
May Fung (; born 1952) is a filmmaker and visual artist who is based in Hong Kong, her work is acquired by institutions such as M+. In her early years, she worked as a civil servant at the Home Affairs Department. She has been engaged in experimental filmmaking and video art, especially during the 1970s and 1980s. Later, she integrated indie video art into theatre. She took on numerous roles in local cultural development. She once worked as a manager in the Hong Kong experimental theatre company Zuni Icosahedron, and as a consultant for the Hong Kong Arts Centre. Biography Fung studied business after finishing HKCEE. She joined the government after being a clerk for a year and left until she reached to the position of chief training officer. Cattle Depot Artist Village is located on 63 Ma Tau Kok Road, Ma Tau Kok, Kowloon, Hong Kong. The site was originally used as a slaughterhouse from 1908 to 1999. It was renovated and developed into a village for artists in 2001. It is now home to around 20 art groups. Oil Street Artist Village () was an artist community occupying the former Government Supplies Department Headquarters (GSDH) at Oil Street, Fortress Hill, Hong Kong from 1998 to 2000. It has been described as Hong Kong's first artists colony. History The Oil Street Government Supplies Department compound was vacated after the relocation of the department in 1998. The Hong Kong Government had initially planned to sell the compound for commercial purpose, but suspended land sale temporarily in 1998, following a downward trend in the real estate market as a consequence of the 1997 Asian financial crisis. City Contemporary Dance Company
City Contemporary Dance Company (CCDC; ) is a modern dance company in Hong Kong. Dr Willy Tsao founded the company in 1979, and he was the Artistic Director from 1989 to 2019. In May 2020, Yuri Ng was appointed as the 4th Artistic Director, succeeding Tsao. The company is supported by the Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The Fringe Club is a not-for-profit arts organisation. Its mission is to help emergent artists, promote Hong Kong artists abroad through cultural exchange and overseas touring, and conserve and develop Hong Kong cultural heritage.
