Videotage () is a Hong Kong-based Nonprofit organization, non-profit art organisation dedicated to nurturing emerging media artists and the development of the local new media art community. Since 1986, Videotage has evolved from an Artist collective, artist-run collective to a platform fostering the promotion, presentation, creation and preservation of new media art. Videotage has organised numerous events and programs including exhibitions, presentations, festivals, seminars, workshops, performances, residency program and cultural exchange programs, as well as continually distributing artworks through its networks and publications.Lai, C. Oil Street Artist Village () was an artist community occupying the former Government Supplies Department Headquarters (GSDH) at Oil Street, Fortress Hill, Hong Kong from 1998 to 2000. It has been described as Hong Kong's first artists colony. History The Oil Street Government Supplies Department compound was vacated after the relocation of the department in 1998. The Hong Kong Government had initially planned to sell the compound for commercial purpose, but suspended land sale temporarily in 1998, following a downward trend in the real estate market as a consequence of the 1997 Asian financial crisis. The land was instead rented to local artists and organisations on a short-term lease with a low rental fee of HK$ 2.5 dollars per square foot in July 1998. Microwave International New Media Arts Festival () is a new media art festival based in Hong Kong. It began in 1996 as the annual video art festival for local video art collective Videotage. In 2006, it became independent from Videotage and in 2007 it officially became fully independent as the government's previous "presenter" role was handed over to Microwave. The government remains the main sponsor of the Festival, although many more sponsors are sought for each year's Festival. The annual festival generally includes a main exhibition at the Hong Kong City Hall, a smaller scale and usually more alternative exhibition in a separate venue, a keynote conference, performances, screening programmes and other special events organised each year. Urban Council
The Urban Council (UrbCo) was a municipal council in Hong Kong responsible for municipal services on Hong Kong Island and in Kowloon (including New Kowloon). These services were provided by the council's executive arm, the Urban Services Department. Later, the equivalent body for the New Territories was the Regional Council. The council was founded as the Sanitary Board in 1883. It was renamed the Urban Council when new legislation was passed in 1936 expanding its mandate. City Contemporary Dance Company
City Contemporary Dance Company (CCDC; ) is a modern dance company in Hong Kong. Dr Willy Tsao founded the company in 1979, and he was the Artistic Director from 1989 to 2019. In May 2020, Yuri Ng was appointed as the 4th Artistic Director, succeeding Tsao. The company is supported by the Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. CCDC has presented more than 200 original works, including productions by Tsao and other leading choreographers, such as Helen Lai, Mui Cheuk-yin, Pun Siu-fai and Yuri Ng. The Fringe Club is a not-for-profit arts organisation. Its mission is to help emergent artists, promote Hong Kong artists abroad through cultural exchange and overseas touring, and conserve and develop Hong Kong cultural heritage. Zuni Icosahedron is a Hong Kong-based international experimental theatre company. Founded in 1982, Zuni is one of the nine major professional performing arts groups subsidised by the HKSAR government and has produced more than 190 original productions of alternative theatre and multimedia performances. As well as theatre works, Zuni is also active in video, sound experimentation and installation art, as well as working in the areas of arts education, arts criticism, cultural policy research and international cultural exchange.
