Caulfield Racecourse
Caulfield Racecourse Reserve is located nine kilometres from the Melbourne CBD, on the boundary of Caulfield and Caulfield East in Melbourne's south eastern suburbs. The Thoroughbred is a horse breed best known for its use in horse racing. Melbourne Racing Club
The Melbourne Racing Club (MRC) is one of three metropolitan horse racing clubs in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It began life as the Victoria Amateur Turf Club, in 1875 with Mr. E.C. Moore as the club's first Secretary. The Dowling Forest Racecourse in Ballarat was the location for the first VATC race meeting on Friday, 24 March 1876. Within six months the VATC were granted use of Crown land at Caulfield as a permanent home in Melbourne. History and race meetings In 1879, the club staged the first running of the Caulfield Cup, and two years later, introduced the Caulfield Guineas and the Toorak Handicap. Mr Quickie (foaled 10 August 2015) is a retired multiple Group 1 winning Australian bred thoroughbred racehorse. Background Mr Quickie was a A$115,000 Magic Millions purchase for Dalziel Racing from the Rosemont Stud draft. Rosemont Stud remained in the ownership and also stand his sire Shamus Award. Racing career Un-raced as a two-year-old, Mr Quickie made his debut on the 25 September 2018 at Murtoa Racecourse, where he finished in second placing. Mr Quickie then proceeded to win 9 of his next 12 starts, which culminated on 8 June 2019 with his first Group One victory at Eagle Farm in the Queensland Derby. He was backed in from $5.50 to start a $2.80 favourite. He defeated Vow And Declare by just under a length who would later go on that year to win the Melbourne Cup. Streets Of Avalon (foaled 9 October 2014) is a multiple Group 1 winning Australian thoroughbred racehorse. Background Streets Of Avalon was sired by Magnus, who won the Group 1 Galaxy. He was offered for sale at the Inglis yearling sales, however was withdrawn and retained by his breeder. Racing career Streets of Avalon first raced as a late autumn 2 year old, but didn’t win until his 7th start in a 3 year old maiden at Bairnsdale, Victoria. His first stakes victory came in the Listed Hareeba Stakes in 2019 at Mornington Racecourse. Further stakes success followed in 2019 with the horse winning two Group 3 races, the Victoria Handicap and the Moonga Stakes.
