Victoria Curling Club (Winnipeg)
The Victoria Curling Club was founded as the club signed a lease for land with the City of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada in 1950. However, construction did not commence until 1952 as material shortages from the Korean War had caused delays. Still the Victoria Curling Club opened in February 1953 with eight sheets of ice. Curling is a sport in which players slide #Curling stone, stones on a sheet of ice toward a target area which is segmented into four concentric circles. It is related to bowls, boules, and shuffleboard. Two teams, each with four players, take turns sliding heavy, polished granite stones, also called ''rocks'', across the ice ''curling sheet'' toward the ''house'', a circular target marked on the ice. Catlin Schneider
Catlin Schneider (born October 17, 1991) is a Canadian curler from Regina, Saskatchewan. Career Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Schneider was a two-sport athlete at university, playing both football and curling for the University of Regina. In football, Schneider was a wide receiver. In curling, he skipped the University of Regina curling team at the 2014 CIS/CCA Curling Championships on home ice. There, he led his team of Mathew Ring, Rory McCusker and Brendan Ryan to a 2-5 record, missing the playoffs. After university, Schneider joined the Brent Gedak team in 2014, throwing third stones on the team. The team played in the 2015 SaskTel Tankard, the Saskatchewan men's provincial championship, but failed to qualify for the playoffs. The 2024 BC Men's Curling Championship, the provincial men's curling championship for British Columbia, was held from January 23 to 28 at the Archie Browning Sports Centre in Esquimalt, British Columbia. The winning Catlin Schneider rink will represent British Columbia at the 2024 Montana's Brier in Regina, Saskatchewan. Alex Horvath (curler)
Alexander Justin Bruce Horvath (born February 26, 1998) is a Canadian curler from Victoria, British Columbia. He currently plays lead on Team Catlin Schneider. He is a former World and Canadian Junior champion. Career Horvath first curled competitively on the national level at the 2014 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. That season, Horvath played lead on the Cameron de Jong rink that won the BC Junior men's title. Representing British Columbia at the Canadian Juniors, the de Jong-led rink finished the event with a 5–5 record. Horvath joined the two-time Canadian Junior and defending World Junior champion Tyler Tardi rink in 2018, playing lead on the team. The rink began the season by winning the 2018 King Cash Spiel World Curling Tour event. Later on in the season, the team won another provincial junior title. Sterling Middleton
Sterling Middleton (born December 8, 1998) is a Canadian curler, originally from Fort St. John, British Columbia. He is a two-time World Junior champion, three-time Canadian Junior Champion, and Youth Olympic gold medallist. Career Juniors Growing up in the Peace Region of British Columbia meant that Middleton was eligible to curl competitively out of B.C. and Alberta. Middleton curled for the Falher, Alberta based Dustin Turcotte rink for two seasons from 2013 to 2015. After seeing him at the 2013 B.C. High School Championship, Middleton was picked up to also play for the Tyler Tardi rink in 2014. The team went on to win the BC qualifier for the 2015 Canada Winter Games. Jacques Gauthier (curler)
Jacques Gauthier (born October 17, 1998) is a Canadian curler from Winnipeg, Manitoba. He currently plays second on Team Kevin Koe. Career Gauthier played most of his junior career as third for J. T. Ryan. With Ryan, he won a silver medal at the 2019 Canadian Junior Curling Championships and a bronze medal at the 2018 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. In 2018, he got to play in his first World Junior Curling Championships as alternate for Tyler Tardi. The team won a gold medal. Ryan aged out of juniors after the 2019 championships and Gauthier formed his own team for the 2019–20 season. Sarah Wark (born February 17, 1986 in Winnipeg) is a Canadian curler from Chilliwack, British Columbia. She currently skips her own team out of Abbotsford. Career As a junior curler, Wark and her team of Darah Provencal, Stephanie Jackson and Sarah Neal won the provincial championship in 2005. The team represented British Columbia at the 2005 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, where they would finish with a 6–6 record. After juniors, Wark would win two provincial mixed titles, in 2009 playing third for Jason Montgomery and in 2014 as third for Wes Craig. Her win in 2009 qualified her team to represent B.C. at the 2010 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship, where they would lose in the semi-final to Ontario.
