Sterling Middleton
Sterling Middleton (born December 8, 1998) is a Canadian curler, originally from Fort St. John, British Columbia. He is a two-time World Junior champion, three-time Canadian Junior Champion, and Youth Olympic gold medallist. Career Juniors Growing up in the Peace Region of British Columbia meant that Middleton was eligible to curl competitively out of B.C. and Alberta. Middleton curled for the Falher, Alberta based Dustin Turcotte rink for two seasons from 2013 to 2015. After seeing him at the 2013 B.C. High School Championship, Middleton was picked up to also play for the Tyler Tardi rink in 2014. The team went on to win the BC qualifier for the 2015 Canada Winter Games. At the 2015 Canada Games, the team picked up a bronze medal. Middleton was chosen to be play lead on the Canadian team at the 2016 Winter Youth Olympics, along with skip Mary Fay, Tardi and Karlee Burgess. Falher, Alberta
Falher (, ) is a town in the Peace Country area of Alberta, Canada. It is located in the Municipal District of Smoky River No. 130, along Highway 49. Falher is one of the earliest agricultural communities in the Peace River Country and is notable for its sizable francophone population. History The area was known to missionaries before it was surveyed in 1909 as an Indian trail that led to British Columbia and where the Edmonton, Dunvegan and British Columbia Railway later laid its tracks. In 1912, the settlement of Mission St-Jean Baptiste de Falher was opened from the current location of the Town of Falher. Matthew Hall (curler)
Matthew Hall (born July 10, 1997 in Kitchener, Ontario) is a Canadian curler. He currently plays second on Team Rylan Kleiter. He was a member of the 2019 World Junior Curling Championships gold medallist team. Career Juniors In 2013, Hall and his rink of Phil Malvar, Mackenzie Reid and Cody McGhee won the Ontario Bantam Boys Championship. The team went on to represent Ontario at the 2015 Canada Games, where they picked up a silver medal. The following season, Hall joined the Doug Kee junior team at second. The team won the Ontario Junior Championships and represented Ontario at the 2016 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, where they finished with a 5–5 record. The next season, Hall formed his own rink with Jeff Wanless, Joey Hart and David Hart. The team began the 2016–17 season by winning the KW Fall Classic World Curling Tour event. Mixed doubles curling at the 2016 Winter Youth Olympics was held from February 19 to 21 at Kristins Hall in Lillehammer, Norway. Teams The teams will consist of athletes from the mixed team tournament, one boy and one girl from different NOCs. Karlee Burgess
Karlee Burgess (born September 14, 1998) is a Canadian curler from Winnipeg, Manitoba. She currently plays third on Team Jennifer Jones. Career At just 15 years old, Burgess played second for the Mary Fay rink along with, Jenn Smith and Janique LeBlanc and won the 2014 Nova Scotia Junior women's championship. They were the youngest team to win in 20 years., sending the four-some to the 2014 Canadian Junior Curling Championships to represent Nova Scotia. Despite their youth, the team finished with an 8–2 record, making the playoffs. The team would go on to lose to British Columbia, skipped by Kalia Van Osch in the semi-final, winning a bronze medal. The next year, the Fay rink won their second U21 Nova Scotia Provincials, earning the right to represent Nova Scotia at their second back-to-back Canadian Junior Curling Championship.
