Viburnum Farreri
''Viburnum farreri'' (syn. ''V. fragrans'') is a species of flowering plant in the family Adoxaceae (formerly Caprifoliaceae), native to northern China. Growing to tall by broad, it is an erect deciduous shrub with sweetly perfumed, pink-tinged white blooms in late autumn and early spring. Its dark green leaves are bronze when young, turning brilliant shades of red-purple in autumn. ''V. farreri'' grows in moist but well-drained soil in sun or partial shade. The Latin specific epithet ''farreri'' commemorates the English plant collector Reginald Farrer. Alexander Georg von Bunge (russian: Алекса́ндр Андре́евич Бу́нге; – ) was a Russian botanist. He is best remembered for scientific expeditions into Asia and especially Siberia. Early life and education Bunge was born under the name, Alexander Andreevič von Bunge on in Kyiv as second son of a family that belonged to the German minority in Tsarist Russia. HIs father, Andreas Theodor was a pharmacist who had emigrated from East Prussia to Russia with his grandfather in the 18th century and his mother, Elisabeth von Bunge, . Adoxaceae
Adoxaceae, commonly known as moschatel family, is a small family of flowering plants in the order Dipsacales, now consisting of five genera and about 150–200 species. They are characterised by opposite toothed leaves, small five- or, more rarely, four-petalled flowers in cymose inflorescences, and the fruit being a drupe. They are thus similar to many Cornaceae. In older classifications, this entire family was part of Caprifoliaceae, the honeysuckle family. ''Adoxa'' (moschatel) was the first plant to be moved to this new group. The Caprifoliaceae or honeysuckle family is a clade of dicotyledonous flowering plants consisting of about 860 species, in 33, to 42 genera, with a nearly cosmopolitan distribution.
