Vesthimmerland Municipality
Vesthimmerland Municipality ( da, Vesthimmerlands Kommune) is a '' kommune'' in the North Jutland Region of Denmark. It covers an area of 768,08 km² (2013) and has a total population of 36,012 (2024). The Municipality borders Jammerbugt Municipality to the south and to the east it borders Rebild and Aalborg Municipality and to the south it borders Viborg Municipality and to the south-east it borders Mariagerfjord Municipality. On 1 January 2007 Vesthimmerland municipality was created as the result of ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipal Reform" of 2007), consisting of the former municipalities of Aalestrup, Farsø, Løgstør, and Aars. The municipal seat is the city of Aars, which also was the seat in the former Aars Municipality. Aars Municipality
Aars Municipality was formed by Kommunalreformen in 1970, which made the parishes into municipalities. Before the Municipalities of Denmark#Municipal Reform 2007, ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipality Reform") of 2007, it was a municipality (Danish language, Danish, ''Commune (subnational entity), kommune'') in northern Denmark, in the county of North Jutland County, North Jutland on the peninsula of Jutland. The municipality covers an area of 223 km2, and had a total population of 13,284 (2005). Its latest mayor was Knud V. Jens Lauritzen
Jens Lauritzen (born December 3, 1953) is a Danish politician who has been Mayor of the Vesthimmerland Municipality from 2006 to 2010, he is/was from Venstre. Lauritzen is educated in agriculture. Since 1981 he has been an independent farmer, but has also worked as a supervisor in a construction company. He began his political career as a member of Løgstør Municipal Council in Løgstør in 1986. He became mayor of Løgstør Municipality in 1998. Overlade
Overlade is a village/town in western Himmerland, Denmark, with a population of 447 (1 January 2022), located 12 km north from Farsø, 16 km south of Løgstør, 3 kilometers from Limfjord and seven kilometers south of Ranum. The village is in the North Denmark Region and belongs to the Vesthimmerland Municipality. The city was founded by the monks of Vitskøl Abbey most likely the monks were from the Cistercian Order. The city has in recent history been a rich business with several factories, forges, bakeries, butcher sale, bicycle shop and much more. The city inn burned down in 1984. Like many small towns, some of these businesses through time has gone, but the town still has some shops and craft stores.Overlade

Hvalpsund
Hvalpsund is a ferry port in Himmerland with a population of 649 (1 January 2022), located 20 km west of Aalestrup, 12 km southwest of Farsø and 25 km southwest of Aars. The town belongs to the municipality of Vesthimmerland Municipality and is located in the Region Nordjylland. History Færgekroen The first royal license to run a ferry on the sound is from 1532. Because of the strong stream the ferry was a kind of barge that was rowed by 4 men. In 1549 the king, Christian III ordered the ferry to be established, and a ferry house was to be built for the travelers. On July 20, 1669, Hvalpsund Færgekro was privileged, and the innkeeper was responsible for both the ferry and the inn, as he had already done for some years. Gedsted
Gedsted is a small town in Himmerland with a population of 857 (1 January 2023), located in Gedsted parish. The town belongs to the municipality of Vesthimmerland Municipality and is located in the North Denmark Region. The town is located on a hillside near Louns Bredning around 10 km south of Farsø. Livø
Livø () is a 320-hectare Danish island with approximately 10-year-round residents. The island is located centrally in the Limfjord, about 20 minutes by boat from Rønbjerg, and approximately midway between Nykøbing Mors, Løgstør, Fjerritslev and Thisted.
