Veritas Films
Veritas Films is a filmmaking company based in the United Arab Emirates. It creates cultural and corporate non-fiction content, including corporate films, short and feature-length documentaries, TV programming, and videos, in both English and Arabic. It is also an active contributor to the artistic and cultural offerings of the United Arab Emirates, through initiatives such as the multi-media documentary archiving of particular neighborhoods and the free, bi-annual film festival Mahmovies! Its feature-length documentary '' Teta, Alf Marra'' won seven major awards at international festivals in 2010-12 and was the first documentary produced in the region to achieve significant distribution in the Middle East. Its second creative documentary film, "Champ of the Camp", has already received one award and several grants. ''Teta, Alf Marra'' (Arabic for: Grandma, A Thousand Times) is an Arabic documentary film about a feisty Beiruti grandmother. The 50-minute film was produced in 2010 as a UAE/Qatar/Lebanon co-production with the financial support of the Doha Film Institute and Screen Institute Beirut. The film was produced by Veritas Films. It was the first film to be released by a company based in Twofour54, Abu Dhabi’s media content creation freezone. “Teta, Alf Marra” achieved several ‘firsts’ for the regional filmmaking industry. Satwa Stories
Satwa Stories is a spoken word piece/photo-novella that was created and produced by Mahmoud Kaabour and Denise Holloway. It was presented at Pecha Kucha in June 2008 at The Third Line Gallery in al Quoz in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The project is a poetic exploration of the hidden gems and iconic characters of the al Satwa neighborhood in Dubai. It is a sequence of 20 artistic photographs, overlaid with a spoken word performance by Mahmoud Kaabour and live music.
