Ventura Monge Domínguez
Ventura Monge Domínguez (22 June 1914 – 15 May 1937) was an infantry officer of the General Staff of the Spanish Republican Army and fought in militias during the Spanish Civil War. Early life Ventura was the son of a military veteran of the war in Morocco (1912), and grandson of a veteran of the war in Cuba (1878). Ventura was born in Madrid to a prominent family of distinguished farmers. His ancestor, and grandfather graduated as an agronomist at the University of Salamanca. Encouraged by his father, he wanted to join the army in 1926, but since he could not do it because he was not old enough to study, he had to do it as a cornet. In 1928 he entered the Infantry Academy of NCOs. With the rank of sergeant, he was assigned to the 1st Infantry Regiment. Alfonso XIII (17 May 1886 – 28 February 1941), also known as El Africano or the African, was King of Spain from 17 May 1886 to 14 April 1931, when the Second Spanish Republic was proclaimed. House Of Quiñones
The House of Quiñones (Casa de Quiñones) is an old and noble Spanish family that emerged in Castile and León in the 12th century and became one of the most prominent dynasties of the Spanish kingdom until the 20th century. The original family gave rise to several branches, one of which became Conts of Luna from the 15th century to the 19th century, in turn giving rise to other branches including the marquesado de Alcedo. Ceuta

The Battle of Jarama (6–27 February 1937) was an attempt by General Francisco Franco's Nationalists to dislodge the Republican lines along the river Jarama, just east of Madrid, during the Spanish Civil War. Elite Spanish Legionnaires and Moroccan ''Regulares'' from the Army of Africa forced back the Republican Army of the Centre, including the International Brigades, but after days of fierce fighting no breakthrough was achieved. Vicente Rojo Lluch (8 October 1894 – 15 June 1966) was Chief of the General Staff of the Spanish Armed Forces during the Spanish Civil War. Early life He was the posthumous son of a military man who fought against the Carlists and in the campaigns of Cuba, from where he returned ill. In 1911 Rojo entered the Infantry Academy at the Alcazar of Toledo, receiving his commission in 1914 with the rank of second lieutenant, fourth in a class of 390 cadets. After having been assigned to Barcelona he went on to the Group of Regulars from Ceuta (the ''Regulares'' were Moroccan colonial troops with Spanish officers). He was later posted back to Barcelona and to La Seu d'Urgell. In 1922, having risen to the rank of captain, he returned to the Infantry Academy in Toledo, where he occupied diverse educational and administrative positions.
