Veldre
Byflaten or Veldre is a village in Ringsaker Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. The village is located about northwest of the town of Brumunddal. Veldre Church is located on the west side of the village. The village has a population (2021) of 258 and a population density of . The area surrounding the village is known as ''Veldre''. The area is highly productive farmland and pine forests. The higher points in Veldre offer a splendid view over the Hedemarken district and southern parts of the lake Mjøsa. Notable people Johan Nordhagen (1856–1956) was a well-known graphic artist born in Veldre. His graphic prints are mostly motives from Veldre. One can debate whether Alf Prøysen came from Veldre, or the neighboring Rudshøgda, but his ties to the district were deeply rooted. His motives grew out of his working-class peasant childhood. Veldre Church
Veldre Church ( no, Veldre kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Ringsaker Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. It is located in the village of Byflaten. It is one of the churches for the Bromunddal/Veldre parish which is part of the Ringsaker prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Hamar. The white, wooden church was built in a long church design in 2000 using plans drawn up by the architects Ulf Zettersten and Roar Jacobsen. The church seats about 275 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to the year 1332, but the church was not new that year. The first church here was a wooden stave church that was probably built during the 13th century. Johan Nordhagen
Johan Nordhagen (23 March 1856 – 28 August 1956) was a Norwegian painter, graphic artist, educator and school administrator. Childhood Johan Nordhagen was born in Veldre in the Ringsaker municipality of Hedmark, Norway. He was the son of Ole Johansen (1816–73) and Ahlis Hansdatter Nordhagen (1830–91). He grew up in Nordhagen on a farm called Flisaker. His father was from Grue, and was of Finnish descent. He worked as a cartwheel-maker. His mother was from Veldre. He grew up in poverty. Nordhagen drew a lot in his childhood, and was often told to do something useful instead. It was just a coincidence that Nordhagen in his youth made contact with persons who helped him making a career in art. Rudshøgda
Rudshøgda is a village in Ringsaker Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. The village is located about from the towns of Moelv (to the northwest) and Brumunddal (to the southeast). The European route E6 highway runs through the village. The Dovrebanen railway line runs through the village as well. From 1914 to 1994, the trains stopped at the Rudshøgda Station. During the 1980s there were plans to build an airport at Rudshøgda, but this did not happen. Rudshøgda was the childhood home of author, poet, playwright, songwriter and musician, Alf Prøysen. Alf Prøysen () (23 July 1914 – 23 November 1970) was a Norwegian author, poet, playwright, songwriter and musician. Prøysen was one of the most important Norwegian cultural personalities in the second half of the 20th century. He worked in several different media including books, newspapers and records. Mjøsa
Mjøsa is Norway's largest lake, as well as one of the deepest lakes in Norway and in Europe. It is the fourth-deepest lake in Norway. It is located in the southern part of Norway, about north of the city of Oslo. Its main tributary is the river Gudbrandsdalslågen flowing in from the north; the only distributary is the river Vorma in the south. Inflows would theoretically need 5.6 years to fill the lake.
