Velbert (, Low Rhenish: ''Vèlbed'') is a town in the district of Mettmann, in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The town is renowned worldwide for the production of locks and fittings. Geography Velbert is located on the hills of 'Niederberg' (meaning ''Lower Mountain''), part of the Berg region, approx. 20 kilometres north-east of the capital of North Rhine Westphalia, Düsseldorf, and 12 kilometers north-west of Wuppertal on the south side of the Ruhr river. Velbert stands on the highest part of the Niederberg region and also in its centre. Its average elevation is around 230 metres above sea level; its highest point, at 303 metres, is the ''Hordt-Berg'', and its lowest, at around 70.6 metres, is in Nierenhof am Deilbach. The highest point in Velbert itself is 263 metres above sea level, at the corner of Friedrichstraße and Langenberger Straße. Essen Hauptbahnhof (German for "Essen main station") is a railway station in the city of Essen in western Germany. It is situated south of the old town centre, next to the A 40 motorway. It was opened in 1862 by the Bergisch-Märkische Eisenbahn. Bottrop Hauptbahnof is a railway station in Bottrop, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Recklinghausen Hauptbahnhof
Recklinghausen Hauptbahnhof is a railway station for the city of Recklinghausen in Germany. History The original station opened in 1870 by the Cologne-Minden Railway Company as part of the construction of the Hamburg-Venlo railway. During the Second World War, on 1 April 1945, a heavy bombing raid mostly destroyed the station and tracks. It is commemorated by the bunker built next to the station, in which the Kunsthalle Recklinghausen was established in 1950. An outstanding feature of the architecture of the station building with its glass front is now the clock tower. The new bus station was built in 1998. Up until the renovation of the building, a plaque commemorating the 5000th kilometer of electrified rail of the Deutsche Bundesbahn, was located in the station. The Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn () is a polycentric S-bahn network covering the Rhine-Ruhr Metropolitan Region in the German federated state of North Rhine-Westphalia. This includes most of the Ruhr (and cities such as Dortmund, Duisburg and Essen), the Berg cities of Wuppertal and Solingen and parts of the Rhineland (with cities such as Cologne and Düsseldorf). Bundesautobahn 535
is an autobahn in Germany. The first section of the highway was built in 1973, along with the construction of the A 46 through the area. The freeway ran between the A 46 and B 7, a distance of 2 km; it was signed upon completion as the B 224n. Until the tunnel ''Großer Busch'' was completed in 1990, this was the shortest stretch of autobahn-standard freeway in Germany. The tunnel connected the short stretch of freeway to a longer one (current A 535 junctions 1 to 4). The freeway was not officially signed as an autobahn, however, until 1 September 2007. A planned extension of the A 535 across the Ruhr towards Essen and the A 52 was classified as "urgent" in the latest ''Bundesverkehrswegeplan'' (Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan).
