''Variaciones Espectrales'' is the first proper album credited to Jack Dangers. It was recorded as part of the Series 7 collection for Bella Union Bella Union is a British independent record label founded in 1997 by Simon Raymonde and Robin Guthrie of Cocteau Twins. History After releasing records with 4AD for a large part of their career, Cocteau Twi ..., an independent record label, the directive being that Dangers had to record one song a day for seven days. Lynn Farmer is credited to playing drums on tracks 2, 3 and 4. The material present often sounds very reminiscent of the Meat Beat Manifesto album RUOK? which appeared later in the same year, and it is likely that some of these tracks represented early sketches of RUOK? material; the last track "Echo In Space", in particular, is nearly identical to "No Echo In Space" from RUOK? Jack Dangers
Jack Dangers (born John Stephen Corrigan, 11 January 1965) is an English electronic musician, DJ, producer, and remixer best known for his work as the primary member of Meat Beat Manifesto. He lives in San Francisco. Career Prior to founding Meat Beat Manifesto together in 1987, Jack Dangers and Jonny Stephens were members of a short-lived group Perennial Divide. While Stephens remained a member for several years, Jack Dangers is the only person credited as a member of the band on every Meat Beat Manifesto release. In addition to his career with Meat Beat Manifesto, Jack Dangers has also contributed other projects. Along with Ben Stokes (DHS-(Dimensional Holofonic Sound)) and Mike Powell (musician), Mike Powell and he is a part of unusual breakbeat combo known simply as Tino Corp., Tino. Tino's material is released through their independent label, Tino Corp. Another collaboration called Loop Finder General was announced at one time, but the only recording that has surfaced ... ''Forbidden Planet Explored'' is a double album by Jack Dangers. The first CD is a live performance of the soundtrack to ''Forbidden Planet'' while the second CD is sci-fi sound effects. Liner notes "Music feed recorded live at the I.D.E.A.L Festival, Le Lieu Unique in Nantes, France on March 6, 2004 during the screening of the film ''Forbidden Planet''. ''Forbidden Planet Explored'' contains a second CD full of sci-fi sound effects inspired by the BBC Radiophonic Workshop (a highly innovative collaborative workshop responsible for early groundbreaking electronic music which were used as the soundtrack for numerous BBC programs starting in the sixties) and vintage sci-fi films such as ''Forbidden Planet''. Metacritic is a website that review aggregator, aggregates reviews of films, TV shows, music albums, video games and formerly, books. For each product, the scores from each review are averaged (a weighted arithmetic mean, weighted average). Metacritic was created by Jason Dietz, Marc Doyle, and Julie Doyle Roberts in 1999. The site provides an excerpt from each review and hyperlinks to its source. A color of green, yellow or red summarizes the critics' recommendations. It is regarded as the foremost online review aggregation site for the video game industry. Metacritic's scoring converts each review into a percentage, either mathematically from the mark given, or what the site decides subjectively from a qualitative review. Beginnings The first issue of ''Alternative Press'' was distributed at concerts in Cleveland, Ohio beginning in June 1985 by ''APs founder, Mike Shea to advocate bands playing underground music. The name for the magazine, ''Alternative Press'', was not a reference to the alternative rock genre, but referred to the fanzine being an alternative to the local press. Bella Union is a British independent record label founded in 1997 by Simon Raymonde and Robin Guthrie of Cocteau Twins. It is now run solely by Raymonde. History After releasing records with 4AD for a large part of their career, Cocteau Twins decided to start up the Bella Union record label in 1997, through which they could release their own work as well as any collaborative efforts. The band split up not long after, but instead of letting the newly formed label go under, Robin Guthrie, Simon Raymonde and their former manager Fiona Glyn-Jones decided to take charge of it. One of the earliest bands to sign on was the Australian trio Dirty Three, who continue to release under Bella Union. Other early signees include Françoiz Breut and The Czars. Since 2000, when Guthrie moved to France to concentrate on his own music, Raymonde took the reins at Bella Union.
