Vannøya
Vanna or Vannøya is a rocky island in Karlsøy Municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. At , Vanna is the 17th largest island in Norway by area. The highest peak is the mountain Vanntinden at a height of above sea level. The population of the island (2017) is 799. Vannvåg and Vannareid are the two main population centres on the island. Sengskroken Church is located on the western coast of the island. The islands of Nordkvaløya and Helgøya lie to the west of the island, and Nord-Fugløya and Arnøya lie to the east of it. Karlsøya, Reinøya, and Ringvassøya are located to the south of the island. There is ferry service to Karlsøya and Ringvassøya departing from the village of Skanningen on the southern tip of Vanna. Other villages include Dåfjord, Hessfjord, Karlsøya, Torsvåg, Vannvåg, and Vannareid. The municipality is made up of many islands including Ringvassøya, Reinøya, Vannøya, Karlsøya, and Rebbenesøya plus several uninhabited islands (many of which were formerly inhabited). Arnøya
or is the 15th largest island in Norway. The island is located in Skjervøy Municipality in Troms og Finnmark county. The highest peak is the tall mountain Arnøyhøgda. There are regular ferry connections to the island from the nearby islands of Laukøya and Kågen, but there are no road connections to the island. Arnøy Church is located on the southern shore of the island. The villages of Årviksand, Arnøyhamn, Akkarvik, and Lauksletta are located on the island. The island of Laukøya is located just to the east, Skjervøya and Kågen are to the southeast, and Vannøya is to the west. The Ullsfjorden lies to the west, the Lyngen fjord lies to the south, the Kvænangen fjord lies to the east, and the Norwegian Sea lies to the north. Helgøya (Troms)
Helgøya is an island and former fishing village in the municipality of Karlsøy in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. The island is surrounded by a number of islands: Vannøya to the northeast; Karlsøya and Reinøya to the southeast; Ringvassøya to the south; and Nordkvaløya to the west. Historically, the island was an active hub for the parish and municipality of Helgøy. It was a large fishing village and the home of the historic Helgøy Church. The church has been located on Helgøya since the 13th century, but has not been regularly used for some time. No one has permanently lived on Helgøya since 1999 when the post office was closed and regular ferry service was ended. The island can only be reached when services are celebrated in the church and ferry rides are organized. Sengskroken Church
Sengskroken Church ( no, Sengskroken kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Karlsøy Municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. It is located on the western coast of the island of Vanna (also known as Vannøya). It is an annex church for the Karlsøy parish which is part of the Tromsø domprosti (arch-deanery) in the Diocese of Nord-Hålogaland. The white, wooden church (originally it was a "chapel") was built in a long church style in 1962 by the architect Knut P. Bugge. The church seats about 225 people. History In 1955, a meeting of the local residents on the island of Vanna was held in regards to the need for a church on the island. Land for a chapel was donated by a widow named Petro Hansen. When the work was started, most of the groundwork was done on a voluntary basis. The drawing of the building was the same as for Billefjord Chapel in Finnmark. Kunnskapsforlaget () is a Norwegian publishing company based in Oslo. Kunnskapsforlaget was established in 1975, as a partnership between H. Aschehoug & Co. (W. Nygaard) and Gyldendal Norsk Forlag. Nord-Fugløya or Fugløya is an uninhabited island in Karlsøy Municipality in Troms og Finnmark, Norway. The highest mountain is the tall Fugløykallen. Vannvåg is a village in Karlsøy Municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. The village is located along the Ullsfjorden on the southeastern shore of the island of Vanna.
