Vadodara Stock Exchange
Vadodara Stock Exchange (VSE) is a defunct stock exchange located in the city of Vadodara, and fully owned by Government of India in Western India. It was established in 1990 at Vadodara. It is the only existing stock exchange in the state of Gujarat along with Ahmedabad. It is recognized by the Securities Contract (Regulations) Act of 1956 as a permanent stock exchange. From a humble beginning in 1986 with the Vadodara Stock Brokers' Association having 150 members, it was incorporated on 22 January 1990 as Vadodara Stock Exchange Limited. By 1999, the exchange had a total of 321 brokers, of which 65 were corporate brokers, 253 were proprietor brokers, and 3 were partnership brokers. Then, there were only 85 sub-brokers registered. Vadodara
Vadodara (), also known as Baroda, is the second largest city in the Indian state of Gujarat. It serves as the administrative headquarters of the Vadodara district and is situated on the banks of the Vishwamitri River, from the state capital of Gandhinagar. The railway line and National Highway 8, which connect Delhi with Mumbai, pass through Vadodara. The city is named for its abundance of the Banyan (''Vad'') tree. Vadodara is also locally referred to as the ''Sanskari Nagari'' () and ''Kala Nagari'' () of India. The city is prominent for landmarks such as the Laxmi Vilas Palace, which served as the residence of the Maratha royal Gaekwad dynasty that ruled over Baroda State. Western India
Western India is a loosely defined region of India consisting of its western part. The Ministry of Home Affairs in its Western Zonal Council Administrative division includes the states of Goa, Gujarat, and Maharashtra along with the Union territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, while the Ministry of Culture and some historians also include the state of Rajasthan. The Geological Survey of India includes Maharashtra but excludes Rajasthan whereas Ministry of Minority Affairs includes Karnataka but excludes Rajasthan. Gujarat (, ) is a state along the western coast of India. Its coastline of about is the longest in the country, most of which lies on the Kathiawar peninsula.
