London (pronounced ) is a city in southwestern Ontario, Canada, along the Quebec City–Windsor Corridor. The city had a population of 422,324 according to the 2021 Canadian census. London is at the confluence of the Thames River, approximately from both Toronto and Detroit; and about from Buffalo, New York. London City Council
London City Council is the governing body of the city of London, Ontario, Canada. Composition London is divided into 14 wards, with residents in each ward electing one councillor. Area codes 519, 226 and 548 are the telephone area codes in the North American Numbering Plan (NANP) for most of southwestern Ontario. Area code 519 was created in 1953 by a split of two numbering plan areas (NPAs), from the western portion of 416 and the southwestern portion of 613. In 1957, parts of 519 and 613 formed area code 705. 519 is mostly bounded by area code 905, except for Simcoe County which is bordered by 705. Peter Fragiskatos
Peter Fragiskatos (born April 30, 1981) is a Canadian academic and Liberal Party of Canada politician, who was first elected to represent the riding of London North Centre in the House of Commons of Canada in the 2015 federal election. Fragiskatos' family is of Greek descent. His grandmother Panagiota emigrated from Greece following World War II, and later became an organizer for the New Democratic Party's leaders Tommy Douglas and Stephen Lewis. Fragiskatos later attributed his interest in politics and social justice to her. He attended the University of Western Ontario (where he earned a Bachelor of Arts), Queen's University (Master of Arts), and finally the University of Cambridge (PhD), where his focus was on Kurdish human rights issues. Deborah Drake Matthews is a former Canadian politician who served as the 10th deputy premier of Ontario from 2013 to 2018. A member of the Liberal Party, Matthews was the member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) for London North Centre from 2003 to 2018, and was a cabinet minister from 2008 to 2018 in the governments of Dalton McGuinty and Kathleen Wynne.
