UCI World Championships
The UCI world championships are annual competitions promoted by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) to determine world champion cyclists. They are held in several different styles of racing, in a different country each year. Championship winners wear a white jersey with coloured bands around the chest for the following year. The similarity to the colours of a rainbow gives them the colloquial name of "Rainbow jersey, the rainbow jersey." The first three individuals or teams in each championship win gold, silver and bronze medals. Former world champions are allowed to wear a trim to their collar and sleeves in the same pattern as the rainbow jersey. Sturmey-Archer
Sturmey-Archer was a manufacturing company originally from Nottingham, England. It primarily produced bicycle hub gears, brakes and a great many other sundry bicycle components, most prominently during their heyday as a subsidiary of the Raleigh Bicycle Company. In the past, it also manufactured motorcycle hubs, gearboxes and engines. The company was founded in 1902 by Henry Sturmey and James Archer under the guidance of Frank Bowden, the primary owner of Raleigh. In 2000, the assets and trademarks of Sturmey-Archer were sold to Sun Race of Taiwan which was renamed Sun Race Sturmey-Archer Inc. and production moved to Taiwan. UCI B World Championships
The UCI B World Championships were the world championship for Level B bicycle road racing and bicycle time trials organized by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) for nations with developing competitive cycling. The UCI B World Championships included events for both men and women in road cycling and track cycling. The first “B” World Championships were held in late 1997 in Ipoh, Malaysia. The event also served as a means of qualification for the 2008 Olympic Games. The UCI Cycling Esports World Championships is a world championships for online bicycle road racing organized by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). The first edition was held on 9 December 2020, featuring a men's and women's event over a virtual 50 kilometer route with 483 meters of simulated elevation gain on the Zwift platform. The event featured strict anti-cheating protocols as well as 11 power ups that competitors could use during the race. UCI Mountain Bike Marathon World Championships
The UCI Mountain Bike Marathon World Championships is the world championship event for marathon mountain bike races. Inaugurated by the Union Cycliste Internationale in 2003, the event is held annually in single classes for men and women. The 2003 event was organized as part of the UCI Mountain Bike & Trials World Championships. Subsequent marathon world championships, however, have been organised as a stand-alone event. Jimmy Michael
Jimmy Michael (18 August 1877 – 21 November 1904) was a Welsh world cycling champion and one of the top riders in the sport for several years. Origins Jimmy Michael was tall. He was born in Aberaman, Cynon Valley, Wales. His parents had a butcher's shop in the town and he started cycling when he was 12. His first successes were at sports meetings in Glynneath and Mountain Ash. He went on to win larger meetings in Cardiff, Newport and Merthyr.
