Pacaás Novos National Park
Pacaás Novos National Park ( pt, Parque Nacional de Pacaás Novos) is a national park in the state of Rondônia, Brazil. The park contains a mountain range by the same name. Location The park is in the Amazon biome. It covers an area of . It was established by decree 84.019 of 21 September 1979, and is administered by the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation. The park covers parts of the municipalities of Alvorada d'Oeste, Campo Novo de Rondônia, Governador Jorge Teixeira, Guajará-Mirim, Mirante da Serra and Nova Mamoré in the state of Rondônia. The park takes its name from the Pacaás Novos River, which rises in the Pacaás Novos mountains in the west of the park and flows southwest via the Rio Pacaás Novos Extractive Reserve to join the Mamoré River just south of Guajará-Mirim. Rondônia
Rondônia () is one of the 26 states of Brazil, located in the northern subdivision of the country (central-western part). To the west is a short border with the state of Acre, to the north is the state of Amazonas, in the east is Mato Grosso, and in the south and southwest is Bolivia. Rondônia has a population of 1,815,000 as of 2021. It is the fifth least populated state. Its capital and largest city is Porto Velho. The state was named after Cândido Rondon, who explored the north of the country during the 1910s. Ji-Paraná
Ji-Paraná is the second most populous municipality in the Brazilian state of Rondônia, with a population of 130,009, and the 16th most populous city of the Brazilian North Region, the 210th most populous city of Brazil, and the 113th of the Brazilian interior. It has an area of 6,897 km2. The city is divided by the Ji-Paraná River. The city economy is industry and dairy production. The city was also the first of Rondônia State to invest in high technology of data transmission, when it connected, through a wireless network, the City Hall. The municipality name comes from tupi, meaning "great river of axes", through the junction of ''yî'' (axe) ''e paranã'' (sea, great river). Ji-Paraná River
The Ji-Paraná River (Machado River), sometimes spelled Jiparaná, is a river in Rondônia state in western Brazil. It is a tributary of the Madeira River in the Amazon Basin. For much of its length it runs roughly parallel with the northeastern state border of Rondônia. The city of Ji-Paraná is divided by the river. Part of the river's basin is covered by the Jacundá National Forest, a sustainable use conservation unit. Part of the basin is in the Jaru Biological Reserve, a fully protected conservation unit created in 1984. The river forms the southern boundary in Rondônia of the Campos Amazônicos National Park, a protected area created in 2006 that holds an unusual enclave of cerrado vegetation in the Amazon rainforest.
