Unity Jiu Jitsu
Unity Jiu Jitsu is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu academy and team started in 2015 with its headquarter based in New York City. Murilo Santana is the head instructor. The academy is known as one of the top talent-producing facilities in the sport. History Unity Jiu Jitsu was established in New York City in January 2015 by Paulo Miyao, his brother Joao, Ana Lowry, and Yago de Souza, all from Cicero Costha’s academy in Brazil as well as Murilo Santana from Barbosa Academy. Murilo Santana became the head instructor while the Miyao brothers and Yago De Souza were resident athletes. Paulo Miyao
Paulo Henrique Bordignon Miyao is a Brazilian BJJ black belt with a notable competitive record. He and his brother João Miyao have a competitive rivalry with Keenan Cornelius: after several defeats to Cornelius in 2012, Paulo would go on to defeat Keenan at the 2013 World Jiu-Jitsu Championship in the brown belt absolute division, a remarkable feat for his given weight-class. Paulo trains under Cicero Costha alongside his brother João and world champion, Leandro Lo. Black belt career In 2012, Paulo won his first black belt tournament while still a brown belt at the ADCC tryouts in Natal, Brazil. He and his brother were promoted to black belt on June 25, 2013. Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ; pt, jiu-jitsu brasileiro ) is a self-defence martial art and combat sport based on grappling, ground fighting (ne-waza) and submission holds. BJJ focuses on the skill of taking an opponent to the ground, controlling one's opponent, gaining a dominant position, and using a number of techniques to force them into submission via joint locks or chokeholds. Mayssa Bastos (born 23 October 1997) is a Brazilian submission grappler and black belt Brazilian jiu-jitsu competitor. Bastos has won almost every single major jiu-jitsu tournaments in both Gi and No-Gi. Devhonte Johnson
Devhonte Johnson, commonly known as "Bones", is an American grappler and Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt competitor and coach. A multiple time IBJJF World, Pan American and European champion in lower belt divisions; Johnson is a black belt IBJJF World No-Gi, Pan American No-Gi and European Open No-Gi Champion. Leandro Lo
Leandro Pereira do Nascimento Lo (11 May 1989 – 7 August 2022), better known as Leandro Lo, was a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt competitor. A record holder with eight IBJJF world championship titles in five different weight classes, as well as multiple wins at every major international tournament, Lo is considered one of the most accomplished jiu-jitsu competitors of all time. Chloé McNally
Chloé McNally is an American competitor of Brazilian jiu-jitsu. A No-Gi World Champion, IBJJF Pan American Champion and Brazilian National Champion in colored belts, McNally is a two-time World Jiu-Jitsu Championship and Pan Jiu-Jitsu Championship black belt medallist. The World IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Championship (commonly known as the Worlds or Mundials) is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament held once every year by the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation. It is widely considered to be the most important and prestigious jiu-jitsu tournament of the year. The first edition took place in February 1996 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Luiza Monteiro (born 23 November 1988) is a Brazilian Grappling, submission grappler and 2nd degree black belt Brazilian jiu-jitsu competitor. She has won gold medals in the Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Gi at all four major events and in Submission wrestling, no-gi at three of the four major events. Margot Ciccarelli (; born 17 November 1993) is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu competitor and coach. Representing Italy, she is a multiple-time World, World Pro, World No-Gi and European Open Champion in the lower belt divisions.
