Umm Anaig
Al Khor Community, also known as Umm Anaig ( ar, ام عنيق), is a gated community on the coast of the Al Khor municipality in Qatar, over from the capital Doha. It is situated between Al Khor City and the town of Al Thakhira and is exclusive to employees of the LNG industry in nearby Ras Laffan (mostly Qatargas) and their families. As the largest housing community in the country, it is designated as a township by Ministry of Municipality and Environment. The community consists of villas and townhouses which accommodate around 15,000 residents, and contains three schools, a medical center, recreational facilities, a post office and a library. There are three clubhouses in the community which are used by the residents of the community. Al Khor (city)
Al Khor ( ar, الخور) is a coastal city in northern Qatar, located 50 kilometres north of the capital, Doha. Considered one of Qatar's largest cities, it is the capital city of the municipality of Al Khor. The name of the city means creek in Arabic; it was given this name because the original settlement was built on a creek. Al Khor is home to many employees of the oil industry due to its proximity to Qatar's northern oil and natural gas fields and to Ras Laffan Industrial City. Rasgas
RasGas Company Limited was a liquefied natural gas (LNG) producing company in Qatar. It was the second-biggest LNG producer in Qatar after Qatargas. RasGas operated seven LNG trains located in Ras Laffan Industrial City. It was merged with Qatargas on 1 January 2018. RasGas also operated helium plants which produce 25% of the world's helium, and make Qatar the second largest helium exporter. Liquefied Natural Gas
Liquefied natural gas (LNG) is natural gas (predominantly methane, CH4, with some mixture of ethane, C2H6) that has been cooled down to liquid form for ease and safety of non-pressurized storage or transport. It takes up about 1/600th the volume of natural gas in the gaseous state (at standard conditions for temperature and pressure). LNG is odorless, colorless, non-toxic and non-corrosive. Hazards include flammability after vaporization into a gaseous state, freezing and asphyxia. Al Thakhira
Al Thakhira ( ar, الذخيره, Adh Dhakhīrah, Ammunition) is a town on the coast of the Al Khor municipality in Qatar, about northeast of the city of Al Khor City and from the capital Doha. It is closely affiliated with Al Khor City, with both having been founded by the Al Muhannadi tribe. Like other coastal settlements in the area, its inhabitants historically relied solely on pearling and fishing for sustenance. Etymology Al Thakhira translates to 'ammunition' in English. Qatar
