Kamuzu International Airport is an international airport serving Lilongwe, the capital city of Malawi. It is also known as Lilongwe International Airport. History The airport was built in 1977 by the Nello L. Teer Company, taking over most airline operations from Old Lilongwe Airport (FWLE) some 6 km west of the city centre. Owned by Airport Developments Limited. Its ICAO code was originally FWLI. In the 1990s, Lilongwe had scheduled passenger service to Europe. Karonga is a township in the Karonga District in Northern Region of Malawi. Located on the western shore of Lake Nyasa, it was established as a slaving centre sometime before 1877. As of 2018 estimates, Karonga has a population of 61,609. Mzuzu is the capital of Malawi's Northern Region and is the third largest city by population in Malawi.
