Ukraine's Strongest Man ( ua, Найсильніша людина України) is an annual strongman competition held in Ukraine, featuring exclusively Ukrainian athletes to determine the Strongest Ukrainian of the year. Vasyl Virastyuk holds the record for most wins, winning the title 7 times. Oleksandr Lashyn has won the title 6 times and Oleksii Novikov 4 times. Three of the competition winners have proceeded to become World's Strongest Man (2004, 2020) and Europe's Strongest Man (2022, 2023) champions. Strongman (strength Athlete)
In the 19th century, the term strongman referred to an exhibitor of strength or similar circus performers who performed feats of strength. More recently, strength athletics, also known as strongman competitions, have grown in popularity. These competitions are now composed of a variety of events in which competitors have to move the highest weights possible, the winner being the one having the highest tally across all events. Description In the first half of the 20th century, strongmen would perform various feats of strength such as the bent press (not to be confused with the bench press, which did not exist at the time), supporting large amounts of weight held overhead at arm's length, steel bending, chain breaking, etc. They needed to have large amounts of wrist, hand, and tendon strength for these feats, as well as prodigious oblique strength. Vasyl Virastyuk ( uk, Василь Вірастюк; born 22 April 1974), is a Ukrainians, Ukrainian politician and former strongman (strength athlete), strongman competitor. He is a brother of Roman Virastyuk. Virastyuk was the winner of 2004 World's Strongest Man, World's Strongest Man 2004. In a 28 March 2021 parliamentary 2019 Ukrainian parliamentary election, by-election, Virastyuk was a candidate for Servant of the People (political party), Servant of the People. Oleksandr Lashyn (born March 2, 1982) is a professional strongman competitor from Ukraine. Olkesandr competes regularly in the WSF World Cup as well as the WSF World Team Cup, and has also competed in Strongman Champions League. Oleksii Novikov ( uk, Олексій Новіков, born 11 February 1996) is a Ukrainian professional strongman. He won the 2020 World's Strongest Man competition, becoming the second Ukrainian World's Strongest Man winner after Vasyl Virastyuk who won in 2004. He is also the champion of World's Ultimate Strongman (twice), Rogue Invitational, as well as the Europe’s Strongest Man in 2022. Biography He was born and raised in Kyiv. The World's Strongest Man is an international Strongman competition held every year. Organized by American event management company IMG, a subsidiary of Endeavor, it is broadcast in the US during summers and in the UK around the end of December each year.
