UAAP Season 71 Volleyball Tournaments
The seniors' division of the UAAP Season 71 volleyball tournaments opened December 6, 2008. Tournament host will be Far Eastern University. Tournament games will be at the Far Eastern University Gym and The Arena in San Juan. The juniors' division tournaments were held on the first semester of the 2008-09 school year; the UE Pages and the UST Lady Tiger Cubs won all of their elimination round games in their respective divisions to clinch the championship outright. In the men's tournament, the UST Growling Tigers also won all of their elimination round games but went through the usual the Final Four format; they beat Ateneo in three straight sets in the semifinals to formalize their entry to the Finals; they then swept the UP Fighting Maroons 2–0 in the best-of-3 Finals series without losing a set to have an immaculate 17–0 Season 71 record to successfully defend their championship. Lizlee Ann "Tatan" Gata-Pantone (born 17 August 1988) is a retired Filipino volleyball player who last played for PLDT Home Fibr of the 2019 PSL Grand Prix Conference. She was a member of the collegiate varsity volleyball team of Adamson University in both indoor and beach volleyball. She played for PLDT Home Ultera Ultra Fast Hitters where she helped the team in winning multiple championships. Pantone was also a member of Philippines national team. She holds the record in the UAAP with the most number of digs and receptions in a single game tallying 77 excellent digs and 63 excellent receptions. Career Gata-Pantone studied at Adamson University. She was dubbed as the Legendary Libero. Aiza Maizo
Aiza Maizo-Pontillas (born February 29, 1988) is a Filipina professional volleyball player. She was a former member and team captain of the UST Golden Tigresses, and a member of the Philippines women's national volleyball team. She led the España-based squad to its 16th and, as of 2018, latest championship in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) league. She was a Shakey's V-League (SVL) three-time Finals and two-time Season Most Valuable Player. Maizo is known for bagging several best-of awards in almost all volleyball skill departments in UAAP and SVL, excluding setting and digging.
