Trams In Avdiivka
The Avdiivka tram opened August 23, 1965. Due to the ongoing War in Donbass the transport system has not operated since 2015 despite attempts to restart operations (the last such attempt was in 2017). In 2010 it had 2 routes, 24.0 km and 25 rail cars. It used mainly multiple-unit tram consists, with an average of 3-4 cars per set. History The first section of the tram line opened August 23, 1965. It was opened to connect the city with the Avdiivka Coke Plant. Still in Ukraine no other tram line exists that was built to connect residential areas with a large industrial enterprise. The first stock used were the KTM/KTP-1 two-axle trams. In 1969 and 1972 the line was further extended. In the early 1970s it was planned to extend the tram line to Donetsk, works to this end did start, but the project was never finished. Avdiivka (, , is a city of regional significance in Ukraine's Donetsk Oblast. The city is in the center of the region, just north of the city of Donetsk. The large Avdiivka Coke Plant is located in Avdiivka. The city's population is officially estimated as ; in January 2017, BBC News estimated that the population ranged between 16,000 and 22,000. Battle Of Avdiivka
The battle of Avdiivka was a battle in the war in Donbas near Avdiivka, Donetsk region, Ukraine that was fought in late January and early February 2017. It saw some of the highest casualties during that phase of the conflict. According to the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine the battle was of a level of fighting in Ukraine that had not been seen since 2014–15. Background On 21 July 2014, during the war in Donbas, Ukrainian forces recaptured Avdiivka from pro-Russian separatists. Avdiivka is located only north of Donetsk. Between Donetsk and Avdiivka stretches Highway M04 which circles Donetsk around its north side and is part of the European route 50. Spartak, Yasynuvata Raion
Spartak ( uk, Спартак; russian: link=no, Спартак) is a village in Yasynuvata Raion (district) in Donetsk Oblast of eastern Ukraine, at about 20 km NNW from the centre of Donetsk city. Spartak borders from south-west with the Donetsk airfield. From 1986 until 2003 the village was connected to the city Avdiivka by a tram line. KTM/KTP-1
KTM-1 is a Soviet-made two-axle tram with a metal body. KTP-1 is a two-axle trailer car to intended to work under KTM-1 traction. It was the first Soviet-made tram to be originally single ended, as well as designated to work on looped (not dead-end) lines. It was the first Soviet-made tram with wide four-segment folding doors and bigger passenger storage spaces. Doors were driven pneumatically. History KTM/KTP1 development began after World War II. The production of experimental KTM/KTP-11 trams began in December 1947 in a tram manufacturing plant in Ust' Katavsk City. In the next year, the plant started serial production of the trams. Production lasted until 1961, when the plant switched to the production more modern KTM/KTP-2 trams. Usage The KTM/KTP1 operated in most Soviet cities.
