Spartak, Yasynuvata Raion
Spartak ( uk, Спартак; russian: link=no, Спартак) is a village in Yasynuvata Raion (district) in Donetsk Oblast of eastern Ukraine, at about 20 km NNW from the centre of Donetsk city. Spartak borders from south-west with the Donetsk airfield. From 1986 until 2003 the village was connected to the city Avdiivka by a tram line. The War in Donbass, that started in mid-April 2014, has brought along both civilian and military casualties. Points Of The Compass
The points of the compass are a set of horizontal, radially arrayed compass directions (or azimuths) used in navigation and cartography. A compass rose is primarily composed of four cardinal directions—north, east, south, and west—each separated by 90 degrees, and secondarily divided by four ordinal (intercardinal) directions—northeast, southeast, southwest, and northwest—each located halfway between two cardinal directions. War In Donbas (2014–2022)
The War in Donbas, russian: Война на Донбассе was an armed conflict in the Donbas region of Ukraine, part of the broader Russo-Ukrainian War. In March 2014, immediately following the Euromaidan protest movement and subsequent Revolution of Dignity, protests by pro-Russian, anti-government separatist groups arose in the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts of Ukraine, collectively called the Donbas. These demonstrations began around the same time as Russia's annexation of Crimea, and were part of wider pro-Russian protests across southern and eastern Ukraine. Declaring the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR, respectively), armed Russian-backed separatist groups seized government buildings throughout the Donbas, leading to armed conflict with Ukrainian government forces. Trams In Avdiivka
The Avdiivka tram opened August 23, 1965. Due to the ongoing War in Donbass the transport system has not operated since 2015 despite attempts to restart operations (the last such attempt was in 2017). In 2010 it had 2 routes, 24.0 km and 25 rail cars. It used mainly multiple-unit tram consists, with an average of 3-4 cars per set. History The first section of the tram line opened August 23, 1965. It was opened to connect the city with the Avdiivka Coke Plant. Still in Ukraine no other tram line exists that was built to connect residential areas with a large industrial enterprise. The first stock used were the KTM/KTP-1 two-axle trams. In 1969 and 1972 the line was further extended. In the early 1970s it was planned to extend the tram line to Donetsk, works to this end did start, but the project was never finished. Avdiivka
Avdiivka (, , is a city of regional significance in Ukraine's Donetsk Oblast. The city is in the center of the region, just north of the city of Donetsk. The large Avdiivka Coke Plant is located in Avdiivka. The city's population is officially estimated as ; in January 2017, BBC News estimated that the population ranged between 16,000 and 22,000. As of 3 August, 2022, only 2,500 people, or 10% of the city's pre-war population, remained in Avdiivka according to Vitalii Barabash, head of the city's military–civilian administration. Donetsk Sergei Prokofiev International Airport ( uk, Міжнародний аеропорт "Донецьк", Russian: Международный аэропорт "Донецк") is a former airport located northwest of Donetsk, Ukraine, that was destroyed in 2014 during the war in Donbas. Yasynuvata Raion
Yasynuvata Raion ( uk, Ясинуватський район, ) was one of the administrative raions (a ''district'') of Donetsk Oblast, located in southeastern Ukraine. The administrative center of the district was the city of Yasynuvata, which was incorporated separately as a city of oblast significance and did not belong to the districts jurisdiction. The raion was abolished on 18 July 2020 as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, which reduced the number of raions of Donetsk Oblast to eight, of which only five were controlled by the government. However, since 2014 the raion was split: The western part was under control of the central Ukrainian government, whereas its eastern part was under control of the Donetsk People's Republic which abolished the raion and split it between other administrative units.
