Thomas E. McKay
__NOTOC__ Thomas Evans McKay (October 29, 1875 – January 15, 1958) was a Utah politician and farmer and was a general authority of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) from 1941 until his death. McKay was born in Huntsville, Utah Territory, the son of David McKay and Jennette Evans. McKay's older brother was David O. McKay, who would become the ninth president of the LDS Church. After graduating from the University of Utah in 1899, McKay traveled to Switzerland and Germany as an LDS Church missionary. During his mission, he was president of the Frankfurt Conference of the church for three months. After returning to Utah, McKay taught at the Weber Academy and the Agricultural College of Utah. Later he became the superintendent of the Weber County schools. From 1909 to 1912, McKay returned to Europe as the president of the church's Swiss–German Mission. Huntsville, Utah
Huntsville is a town in Weber County, Utah, United States. The population was 608 at the 2010 census. It is located in Ogden Valley. It is part of the Ogden– Clearfield, Utah Metropolitan Statistical Area, as well as the Ogden Valley census county division. History Huntsville was founded in 1860 by Jefferson Hunt. An LDS ward was organized there in 1877 with Francis Hammond as Bishop, and he was succeeded in 1885 by David McKay. This David McKay was the father of David O. McKay, later president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A Trappist monastery, the Abbey of Our Lady of the Holy Trinity, was established there in 1947, and closed after 70 years in 2017. Mission President
Mission president is a priesthood leadership position in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). A mission president presides over a geographic area known as a mission and the missionaries serving in the mission. Depending on the particular mission, a mission president may also be the presiding priesthood leader of some or all Latter-day Saints within the geographic boundaries of the mission. Weber County, Utah
Weber County ( ) is a county in the U.S. state of Utah. As of the 2020 census, the population was 262,223, making it Utah's fourth-most populous county. Its county seat and largest city is Ogden, the home of Weber State University. The county was named for the Weber River.
