''This Is Radio Soulwax'' is a DJ mix album which was compiled and mixed by Belgian electronic music, electronic band Soulwax, released in February 2006 as a covermount CD in that month's issue of Mixmag magazine in the United Kingdom. It also features a song by Jackson & His Computer Band, who became known later in the year for their song "Utopia" being featured in an advertisement for O2. Remix Album
A remix album is an album consisting of remixes or rerecorded versions of an artist's earlier released material. The first act who employed the format was American singer-songwriter Harry Nilsson (''Aerial Pandemonium Ballet'', 1971). As of 2007, the best-selling remix album of all time is Michael Jackson's ''Blood on the Dance Floor: HIStory in the Mix'' (1997). History and concept ''Aerial Pandemonium Ballet'' (1971) by Harry Nilsson is credited as the first remix album. It was released after the successes of "Everybody's Talkin'" and ''The Point!'', when he decided that his older material had started to sound dated. "Do You Want To" is the lead single from Scottish rock band Franz Ferdinand's second studio album, '' You Could Have It So Much Better'' (2005). It was released 19 September 2005 and charted at number four on the UK Singles Chart. In the US, the song had the most success on the Modern Rock chart, where it peaked at number nine, while reaching number 76 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. It also reached the top spot on the UK Indie Chart. In February 2006, the single was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. The video, directed by Diane Martel, was released on 23 August and was played every hour on MTV2 on the day it debuted. Reception "Do You Want To" was named the Sound Opinions single of 2005. Soulwax are an electronic band from Ghent, Belgium. Centred around brothers David and Stephen Dewaele, other current members include Igor Cavalera and Stefaan Van Leuven. They were first noticed after the release of their album ''Much Against Everyone's Advice'', but after that, the Dewaeles started focusing on their other projects, such as 2manydjs (first known as The Fucking Dewaele Brothers/The Flying Dewaele Brothers). Their album ''As Heard on Radio Soulwax Pt. 2'' was named the best popular music album of 2002 by ''The New York Times''. The brothers have also hosted a show on Belgian television, ''Alter8''. Tiga () James Sontag (born 18 September 1974), known simply as Tiga, is a Canadian musician, DJ and record producer of electronic dance music. He has released three albums, '' Sexor'', '' Ciao!'', and ''No Fantasy Required''. ''Sexor'' won the 2007 Juno Award for Dance Recording of the Year. LCD Soundsystem is an American rock band from Brooklyn, New York, formed in 2002 by James Murphy, co-founder of DFA Records. Namosh
Namosh (born 8 May 1981), also known as Namosh E. Arslan or Namosh Erkan Arslan, is a German singer, musician, performance artist, actor and DJ of Kurdish descent. Life and work Namosh has lived in Berlin since 1999 and is known for his eccentric and wild live performances. He performs mostly solo or with other artists at various events. He has worked with a lot of well known artists and musicians such as Peter Thomas, Wolfgang Müller and Angie Reed, performing or producing music together with them. In the music magazine Q, Björk described Namosh's song "Cold Cream" as her favourite song of 2005. The song appeared on his first album ''Moccatongue'', which was released in 2006. Adam Paul Tinley (born 4 December 1967), known professionally as Adamski, as well as Sonny Eriksson, is an English DJ, musician, singer and record producer, prominent at the time of acid house for his tracks " N-R-G" and "Killer", a collaboration with Seal, which was a No. 1 song in the UK in 1990. Career Tinley was born in Lymington, Hampshire, England. As a youngster, influenced by punk rock and John Peel, he formed his first band The Stupid Babies when he was 11 and living in New Forest in England. Erol Alkan
Erol Alkan (born 30 May 1974) is an English DJ and producer of Turkish Cypriot descent. He grew up in Archway in North London. Career DJ and club promoter In 1993, Erol Alkan started DJing in various indie nightclubs in London. His first ever public DJ set was at The Gass Club in Leicester Square. In 1995, he was a resident DJ of club night 'Going Underground' co-founded by Glyn Peppiatt and James Dickie. It was held weekly on Mondays at the Plastic People venue which was situated at its original Oxford Street location in Central London. In 1997, Erol re-launched the club under a new name: Trash. Franz Ferdinand are a Scottish rock band formed in Glasgow in 2002. The band's original line-up was composed of Alex Kapranos (lead vocals, guitar), Nick McCarthy (guitar, keyboards, backing vocals), Bob Hardy (bass guitar, backing vocals), and Paul Thomson (drums, percussion, backing vocals). Digitalism (band)
Digitalism are a German electronic music duo formed in Hamburg in 2004, consisting of Jens "Jence" Moelle and İsmail "Isi" Tüfekçi. The duo are signed to French label Kitsuné, as well as Virgin Records and Astralwerks in other parts of the world. Band history Formation, ''Idealism'' and ''I Love You Dude'' (2004–11) Moelle and Tüfekçi met at a record store in Hamburg and became friends. Later, the store's owner asked them to DJ a party, and they then began mixing and recording. According to Moelle, they record their music in a World War II bunker they own in Hamburg.
