The Montrose Avenue
The Montrose Avenue were a British rock band, formed in 1996 and were based in Wokingham, Berkshire. The group were composed of lead singer and guitarist Robert Lindsey-Clark, pianist, guitarist and vocalist Scott James, vocalist and guitarist Paul Williams, bassist James Taylor and drummer Matt Everitt who left Menswear to join the group. James and Williams met at school in Reading, and first performed together as a duo covering material by The Byrds and Moby Grape. They met Lindsey-Clark at a folk club and the trio formed Montrose Avenue in 1996. Taylor and Everitt then completed the line-up and signed a recording contract with Columbia Records the following year. The limited edition ''She's Looking For Me EP'', released in 1997, charted at #118 in the UK singles chart. Wokingham
Wokingham is a market town in Berkshire, England, west of London, southeast of Reading, north of Camberley and west of Bracknell. History Wokingham means 'Wocca's people's home'. Wocca was apparently a Saxon chieftain who may also have owned lands at Wokefield in Berkshire and Woking in Surrey. In Victorian times, the name became corrupted to ''Oakingham'', and consequently the acorn with oak leaves is the town's heraldic charge, granted in the 19th century. Geologically, Wokingham sits at the northern end of the Bagshot Formation, overlying London clay, suggesting a prehistorical origin as a marine estuary. The courts of Windsor Forest were held at Wokingham and the town had the right to hold a market from 1219. The Byrds
The Byrds () were an American rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1964. The band underwent multiple lineup changes throughout its existence, with frontman Roger McGuinn (known as Jim McGuinn until mid-1967) remaining the sole consistent member. Although their time as one of the most popular groups in the world only lasted for a short period in the mid-1960s, the Byrds are today considered by critics to be among the most influential rock acts of their era. BBC Radio 6 Music is a British digital radio station owned and operated by the BBC, specialising primarily in alternative music. BBC 6 Music was the first national music radio station to be launched by the BBC in 32 years. "Step on My Old Size Nines" is the third single from Welsh rock band Stereophonics' third album, ''Just Enough Education to Perform'' (2001). The song is track four on the album. It was released on 24 September 2001, reaching number 16 on the UK Singles Chart and number 26 in Ireland. A live acoustic version recorded at the Grand Opera House in York, England, is on CD2 of the "Step on My Old Size Nines" single. Background Lead singer Kelly Jones began writing the song in May 2000. While spending a night with his friends in Birmingham, Jones played several of his new songs, during which one of his friends asked if he had written a song in open G tuning. Right before Stereophonics went to Monnow Valley Studios in Wales for a recording session, Jones wrote the entire song with this tuning in 10 minutes and recorded a demo of "Step on My Old Size Nines" at his house. "Have a Nice Day" is the second single from rock band the Stereophonics taken from their third album ''Just Enough Education to Perform'' (2001). Stereophonics are a Welsh rock band formed in 1992 in the village of Cwmaman in the Cynon Valley, Wales. The band consists of Kelly Jones (lead vocals, lead guitar, keyboards), Richard Jones (bass guitar, harmonica, backing vocals), Adam Zindani (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Jamie Morrison (drums, percussion) and touring member Tony Kirkham (keyboards). Moby Grape is an American rock band founded in 1966, known for having all five members contribute to singing and songwriting, and who collectively merged elements of folk music, blues, country, and jazz with rock and psychedelic music. They were one of the few groups of which all members were lead vocalists. The group's first incarnation ended in 1969, but they have reformed many times afterwards and continue to perform occasionally.
