Team Shanghai Alice
, formerly known as ZUN Soft, is a Japanese ''dōjin'' game developer. Since 1995, the sole member of the group, Jun'ya "ZUN" Ōta, has independently developed and self-published the ''Touhou Project'', a bullet hell shoot 'em up series, as well as collaborated with other circles to produce related print works and music albums. Name "ZUN Soft" was originally created as a generic developer name for each Touhou Project game. After Touhou's PC-98 era, ZUN changed the name of the team to "Shanghai Alice". According to ZUN, this name was chosen to fit the overall theme of the ''Touhou Project''. "Shanghai", to him, is a multicultural city where Western and Oriental styles meet, and "Alice" evokes a feminine or gothic lolita feeling. "Fantasy Ensemble" (幻樂団 ''Gengakudan'') stems from ZUN's unsuccessful attempt to register the group as a music circle for Comiket 61 in December 2001; he decided to keep the name while applying as a game circle for Comiket 62, where he would rele ...

Subterranean Animism
is the eleventh main game of the ''Touhou Project'' scrolling shooter series by Team Shanghai Alice. The game was released on August 16, 2008, during the 74th Comiket. Gameplay ''Subterranean Animism'' is a vertically scrolling shoot 'em up game in which the player has to navigate through a total of six stages, while killing enemies and dodging their projectiles. Each stage contains two bosses, with large amounts of health and complex attack patterns called spell cards, that the player must defeat before advancing. The player can also use their own spell cards, which will clear the screen of bullets and give temporary invulnerability, using the same system from ''Mountain of Faith'' wherein usage of a spell card will consume some of the player's shot power, which is replenished by picking up power-ups from killed enemies. However, unlike ''Mountain of Faith'', the player spell cards in ''Subterranean Animism'' offer different properties depending on the player character. The ...

Scarlet Weather Rhapsody
is the second versus fighting game in the Touhou Project, and is the spiritual successor to '' Immaterial and Missing Power'' by Twilight Frontier and Team Shanghai Alice. In the ''Touhou Project'' overall, it is labelled as the 10.5th Touhou game, though the game was first planned to be numbered 9.8. In western gaming communities, ''Scarlet Weather Rhapsody'' is often abbreviated as SWR. Gameplay ''Scarlet Weather Rhapsody'' stayed true to its predecessor ''Immaterial and Missing Power'' in that it retained most of the ''Immaterials basic system and moves. Projectiles are still the main attack feature, and grazing is still an effective way of evasion. In addition, ''Scarlet Weather Rhapsody'' added the ability to fly, a different card deck system, and a weather system that deals out various handicaps. ''Scarlet Weather Rhapsody'' also provides built-in support for multiplayer games over the internet, something that its predecessor lacks. Card deck system Expanded from the Spe ...

Mountain Of Faith
is the tenth main game in the ''Touhou Project'', and the twelfth game overall. As with the other main ''Touhou'' games, ''Mountain of Faith'' is a vertically scrolling shoot 'em up game. ''Mountain of Faith'' was released in the Comiket 72 in August 2007, and released on Steam in June 2020. Gameplay ''Mountain of Faith'' is a vertically scrolling shoot 'em up game, in which the player is always facing upwards, and is required to maneuver around enemy projectiles, shooting enemies that appear from the top of the screen, and fighting bosses that appear twice in each stage. Unlike previous ''Touhou'' games, the player's spell card ability is not given its own counter, but instead, upon activation, it will consume one point of the player's shot power, which has an upper limit of five points, but can be replenished by collecting power items from killed enemies. Introduced in ''Mountain of Faiths scoring mechanics is the Faith system. The "faith counter", displayed at the lower- ...

Shoot The Bullet
is a shoot 'em up photography game, and is the 9.5th official game in the Touhou Project by the dōjin circle Team Shanghai Alice. It was first released in the 69th Comiket on December 30, 2005. In English-speaking circles, the game's title is often shortened to just ''Shoot the Bullet'', and abbreviated to StB. Gameplay In ''Shoot the Bullet'', unlike other shoot 'em ups in the franchise, the player cannot shoot projectiles at enemies; instead, Aya, the main character, must shoot photographs to clear the screen of bullets and take down bosses (hence ''"Shoot" the Bullet''). Scores are determined by the aesthetics of each photograph taken, such as colours and bullet density, and the risk taken to take these photos. For each "scene", Aya is only given one life to complete the objective — to take a certain number of pictures of the boss without being hit in a limited amount of time. To take pictures, the film must be fully loaded into the camera (100%). The player can move at ...

Phantasmagoria Of Flower View
is the ninth official game in the '' Touhou Project'' scrolling shoot 'em up series. It is often abbreviated as PoFV in English speaking circles. ''Phantasmagoria of Flower View'', like the third ''Touhou'' game, '' Phantasmagoria of Dim. Dream'', differs from other games in the series in that two characters fight each other simultaneously, creating ''danmaku'' to try and defeat the other player. In this regard, the gameplay most resembles Twinkle Star Sprites by ADK. Gameplay ''Phantasmagoria of Flower View'' is a split-screen vertically scrolling shoot 'em up game in which two players use attacks to defend themselves from enemies that will release bullets in their direction, and can, under certain conditions, release spell cards onto the opponent's screen. Unlike most ''Touhou'' games, in ''Phantsamagoria of Flower View'', the player has a health bar, allowing them to survive multiple hits, and each stage ends when one player depletes their opponent's health. The game feat ...

Battles in fighting games usually take place in a fixed-size arena along a two-dimensional plane, to which the characters' movement is restricted. Characters can navigate this plane horizontally by walking or dashing, and vertically by jumping. Some games, such as ''Tekken (video game), Tekken'', also allow limited movement in 3D space.
