Taocun–Weihai Railway
The Taocun–Weihai railway is a passenger and freight railway line between Taocun and Weihai in China. History The railway was approved on 1 June 1989 and construction began on 28 November 1990. Trial operation began on 26 March 1995 and the first passenger services were introduced in 1996. In July 2020, work began on electrifying the line. The project will also see the maximum speed raised from to . The branch to Weihai Port will also be upgraded, increasing the linespeed from to . Route The line has the following stations: * Taocun (Lancun–Yantai railway) * Rushan *Wendeng * Weihai ( Qingdao–Rongcheng intercity railway) Since its opening in 2014, it has been significantly quicker to use the Qingdao–Rongcheng intercity railway to reach Weihai. However, it does not serve Rushan and instead passes through Yantai. Yantai
Yantai, Postal Map Romanization, formerly romanization of Chinese, known as Chefoo, is a coastal prefecture-level city on the Shandong Peninsula in northeastern Shandong province of People's Republic of China. It borders Yantai to the west and the Yellow Sea to the east, and is the closest Chinese city to South Korea. Weihai's population was 2,804,771 as of the 2020 Chinese census, of whom 1,164,730 lived in the current built-up (''or metro'') area of (Huancui District) even though Wendeng district to the south with 563,529 inhabitants is soon being conurbated. There are two county-level cities within Weihai; Rongcheng has a built up area with 714,211 inhabitants, while Rushan had 464,078 inhabitants in 2020. China Railway High-speed (CRH) is a high-speed rail service operated by China Railway. The introduction of CRH series was a major part of the sixth national railway speedup, implemented on April 18, 2007.
