Tynagh-Abbey-Duniry GAA
Tynagh-Abbey/Duniry GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the parish of Tynagh, County Galway, Tynagh, County Galway, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. The club is primarily concerned with the game of hurling History As neighbouring parishes both Tynagh and Duniry often combined in an effort to field teams. In the early years of the 20th century there were also two separate clubs in Tynagh and Duniry. In 1996 both Tynagh and Abbey/Duniry joined forces at under-age level as a result of a decline in population. This act paved the way for the amalgamation that was to take place at adult level in 2004. Gaelic Athletic Association
The Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA; ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael ; CLG) is an Irish international amateur sporting and cultural organisation, focused primarily on promoting indigenous Gaelic games and pastimes, which include the traditional Irish sports of hurling, camogie, Gaelic football, Gaelic handball and rounders. The association also promotes Irish music and dance, as well as the Irish language. Paul Killeen (hurler)
Paul Killeen (born 24 June 1994) is an Irish hurler who plays as a right corner-back for club side Tynagh-Abbey/Duniry and at inter-county level with the Galway senior hurling team. Playing career College Killeen first came to prominence as a hurler with Portumna Community School. After playing in every grade of hurling during his tenure there, he eventually played in the Connacht Championship with the senior team. University As a student at the Limerick Institute of Technology, Killeen was a regular player on the university's senior hurling team in the Fitzgibbon Cup. Club Killeen joined the Tynagh-Abbey/Duniry club at a young age and played in all grades at juvenile and underage levels before joining the club's top adult team. Nicky Ryan
Nicholas Dominick Ryan (born 14 July 1946) is an Irish music producer, recording engineer, and manager. He is best known as the longtime business and recording partner for the singer, songwriter and musician Enya alongside his wife, poet and lyricist Roma Ryan. Born and raised in Dublin, Ryan gained initial recognition in the 1970s and 1980s for his work with several artists including Gary Moore, Planxty, Christy Moore and Clannad. Paul Gordon (born 1 March 1990) is an Irish hurler who currently plays as a centre-back for the Galway senior team. Gordon made his first appearance for the senior team during the 2012 championship and immediately became a regular member of the panel. Shane Moloney
Shane Moloney (born 4 March 1993) is an Irish hurler who plays as a corner-forward for the Galway senior team. At club level he plays with Tynagh-Abbey/Duniry. Moloney captained Galway as they won the All-Ireland title in 2011 where he scored 1-9 in the final against Dublin. On 16 August 2015, he came on as a substitute with five minutes remaining in Galway's All-Ireland Senior Hurling Semi-final against Tipperary. With the game into the last of the three minutes of stoppage time, Moloney scored the winning point to put Galway into the final. On 3 September 2017, Moloney came on as a substitute for Galway in the second half as they won their first All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship in 29 years against Waterford. Jim Power (hurler)
James Power (7 November 1895 – 21 May 1998) was an Irish hurler who played as a full-back for the Galway senior teams. Born in Duniry, County Galway, Power first arrived on the inter-county scene at the age of twenty-two when he first linked up with the Galway senior team, before later lining out with the junior side. He made his senior debut in the 1918 championship. Power went on to enjoy a ten-year inter-county career, and won one All-Ireland medal and one Connacht medal. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on two occasions. Power represented the Connacht inter-provincial team on one occasion, however, he ended his career without a Railway Cup medals. At club level he won five championship medals with Tynagh. His retirement came following the conclusion of the 1928 championship. Power is the longest-lived All-Ireland medallist. Tynagh () is a village and electoral division in south-east County Galway in Ireland. Origin of the name Recorded as ''Tyneaach'' (1565), ''Teacneaghe'' (1543), ''Theaneac'' (1541), its current name is a contraction of Teach nEachach, 'Eochu's house'. In medieval Irish sources it is referred to as Teach nEachach, or 'the house of Eochu'. It was originally associated with the townland of Lecarrow, one mile east of the village, now named a Billew Burial Ground, the word Billew derived from ''Bileadha'', plural of ''bile'', denoting a sacred tree. Galway Intermediate Hurling Championship
The Galway Intermediate Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Galmont Hotel Intermediate Hurling Championship and abbreviated to the Galway IHC) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Galway County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association and contested by the top-ranking intermediate clubs in the county of Galway in Ireland. It is the second tier overall in the entire Galway hurling championship system. The Galway Intermediate Championship was introduced in 1949 as a competition that would bridge the gap between the senior grade and the junior grade.
