Tursujuq National Park
Tursujuq National Park is a Provincial Park of Quebec, Canada. Its creation was announced by the Province of Quebec on December 14, 2012, and officially established on July 18, 2013. Located on the east side of Hudson Bay near the Inuit village of Umiujaq, the park is one of North America's largest, with an area of 26,106.7 km2 (6.45 million acres). It is managed by the Kativik Regional Government, which encompasses most of the Nunavik region of Quebec. The Clearwater Lakes, created by twin earth impacts, lie within the park, as do Richmond Gulf and the watershed of the Nastapoka River. The river hosts a population of landlocked freshwater harbour seals and salmon, and its mouth is a sanctuary for beluga whales. Richmond Gulf
Lake Tasiujaq (french: lac Tasiujaq; iu, Tasiujaq, script=Latn (which resembles a lake)) is a large triangular-shaped inland bay located on east side of Hudson Bay just above 56th parallel north in Quebec, Canada. It was formerly known as Richmond Gulf in English and Lac Guillaume-Delisle in French. In 2008, regional councillors asked the Commission de toponymie du Québec to rename Richmond Gulf as Lac Tasiujaq. The name was officially adopted on 26 February 2016. Beluga Whale
The beluga whale () (''Delphinapterus leucas'') is an Arctic and sub-Arctic cetacean. It is one of two members of the family Monodontidae, along with the narwhal, and the only member of the genus ''Delphinapterus''. It is also known as the white whale, as it is the only cetacean to regularly occur with this colour; the sea canary, due to its high-pitched calls; and the melonhead, though that more commonly refers to the melon-headed whale, which is an oceanic dolphin. The beluga is adapted to life in the Arctic, with anatomical and physiological characteristics that differentiate it from other cetaceans. Amongst these are its all-white colour and the absence of a dorsal fin, which allows it to swim under ice with ease. The Lac Wiyâshâkimî (the official name, in French, formerly Lac à l'Eau Claire, a calque of the lake's name, Wiyâšâkamî, in Northern East Cree, changed form of ''wâšâkamî'' or ''wâšekamî'' in more southerly Cree dialects), also called the Clearwater Lakes in English and Allait Qasigialingat by the Inuit, are a pair of annular lakes on the Canadian Shield in Quebec, Canada, near Hudson Bay. Nunavik
Nunavik (; ; iu, ᓄᓇᕕᒃ) comprises the northern third of the province of Quebec, part of the Nord-du-Québec region and nearly coterminous with Kativik. Covering a land area of north of the 55th parallel, it is the homeland of the Inuit of Quebec and part of the wider Inuit Nunangat. Kativik Regional Government
The Kativik Regional Government (french: Administration régionale Kativik, KGR) encompasses most of the Nunavik region of Quebec. Nunavik is the northern half of the Nord-du-Québec administrative region and includes all the territory north of the 55th parallel. The administrative capital is Kuujjuaq, on the Koksoak River, about 50 kilometres inland from the southern end of the Ungava Bay.
