Turkish Masters
The Turkish Masters was a professional Snooker world rankings, ranking snooker tournament that was held for the first -- and currently only -- time in March 2022 at the Nirvana Cosmopolitan Hotel in Antalya, Turkey. The Turkish Billiards Federation, Big Break Promotions and World Snooker Tour agreed on a deal to stage the event every season until at least 2024/2025, with overall prize money increasing each year. However, the 2023 Turkish Masters, scheduled to take place from 13 to 19 March of that year, was cancelled because the local promoter could not guarantee adequate funding for the event. The 2024 edition is presently unknown, as it was not included on the calendar for the season, although a gap exists after the Players' Championship where the event may be held, if the promoters can secure the funding needed. The World Snooker Tour (WST) is the main professional snooker tour, consisting of approximately 128 players competing on a circuit of up to 28 tournaments each season. Snooker World Rankings
The snooker world rankings are the official system of ranking professional snooker players to determine automatic qualification and seeding for tournaments on the World Snooker Tour. The ranking lists are maintained by the sport's governing body, the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association. Each player's world ranking is based on their performances in designated ranking tournaments over the preceding two years. The world ranking list is updated after every ranking tournament. 2022 Turkish Masters
The 2022 Turkish Masters (officially the 2022 Nirvana Turkish Masters) was a professional snooker tournament that took place from 7 to 13 March 2022 at the Nirvana Cosmopolitan Hotel in Antalya, Turkey. The 13th ranking event of the 2021–22 snooker season, it was the inaugural staging of the Turkish Masters and the first time that a professional snooker event had been staged in Turkey. The tournament was originally scheduled to take place from 27 September to 3 October 2021, but the World Snooker Tour postponed it until March 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2021 Turkey wildfires. Qualification matches were played from 2 to 6 February 2022 at the Morningside Arena in Leicester, England. Matthew Selt (born 7 March 1985) is an English professional snooker player originally from Romford, east London and now living in Chelmsford, Essex. He qualified for the professional tour by finishing seventh on the Pontin's International Open Series in 2006/2007. Selt played in his first professional final in 2014 at the minor-ranking Lisbon Open, which he lost to Stephen Maguire, and has reached five quarter-finals in full ranking events.
