Tunnet Taimla
Tunnet Taimla (21 June 1988 – 9 February 2023) was an Estonian Renju player. Career Taimla started to play Renju in 1995 at the age of 7. After four years of studying, he won the Youth European Championship (1999) among boys 14 years and under. Later, he won the Youth European Championship twice, in 2001 (among boys 14 years and under) and in 2005 (among boys 18 years and under). In 2002 he achieved the title of Youth World Champion (among boys 14 years and under). Since childhood he has taken part in adult tournaments as well, eventually managing to achieve significant results. In 2002 he took part in the Team World Championship as a member of Estonian team which scored 2nd place. Several months later he took part in a European Renju Championship (2002) and achieved silver medal. In 2003 he qualified to the final stage of Renju World Championship AT and won it, thus becoming individual World Champion. Viljandi
Viljandi (, german: Fellin, sv, Fellin) is a town and municipality in southern Estonia with a population of 17,407 in 2019. It is the capital of Viljandi County and is geographically located between two major Estonian cities, Pärnu and Tartu. Ants Soosõrv (born March 15, 1969 in Tallinn) is an Estonian renju player and coach. As a member of the Estonian team, he won the Team World Renju Championships for two times in 2008 and 2014. The European Renju Championship is an official Renju championship organized by the Renju International Federation (RIF). It was started in 1994. History The first European Championship was held in 1994 in Tallinn, Estonia. In 1995, it was decided by the General Assembly of the Renju International Federation (RIF) that the European Championships would be held regularly. In the same year, the 2nd European Championship was held in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Since 1996, the European Championship was changed to happen once every two years. Renju
''Renju'' (Japanese: 連珠) is a professional variant of gomoku. It was named renju by Japanese journalist Ruikou Kuroiwa (黒岩涙香) on December 6, 1899 in a Japanese newspaper ''Yorozu chouhou'' (萬朝報). The name "renju" comes from the Japanese language, and means "connected pearls" in Japanese. The game is played with black and white stones on a 15×15 gridded go board. The rule of renju weakens the advantages for the first player (Black) in gomoku by adding special restrictions for Black. Renju International Federation
The Renju International Federation (RIF) is an international organization which was founded in Stockholm, Sweden on August 8, 1988. The main purpose of the federation is to unite all the Renju and gomoku national federations all over the world, organize international tournaments such as World Championships, together with other activities in renju and gomoku, and spread renju activities in the world. The federation carry out the General Assembly every two years. The Central Committee The Central Committee is responsible to the current status of the Renju International Federation, together with the activities of the officials of the Federation.
