Tsukumizu
is a pseudonymous Japanese manga artist. Their notable works include the post-apocalyptic iyashikei manga ''Girls' Last Tour'' and the four-panel surreal comedy manga ''Shimeji Simulation''. Biography Tsukumizu had been reading extensively since they were in primary school, and read novels all through upper secondary. They cite Haruki Murakami's '' Norwegian Wood'' and '' Dance Dance Dance'', and Kaori Ekuni's ''Kirakira Hikaru'' as having influenced the themes behind ''Girls' Last Tour''. In upper secondary, they started to become interested in anime, and began drawing ''moe'' in their third year. This interest would bloom to encompass manga as well. Tsukumizu attended the Aichi University of Education, and wished to study painting to become an art teacher. At that temporal juncture, they only saw drawing manga as a hobby. is a Japanese four-panel surreal comedy manga series written and illustrated by Tsukumizu. It was serialized in Media Factory's ''Comic Cune'' magazine from January 26, 2019 to November 26, 2023. The first ''tankōbon'' volume was published in Japan on February 28, 2020, while the last was released on January 26, 2024. Plot ''Shimeji Simulation'' follows Shijima Tsukishima, a former hikikomori who decides to attend high school. It was serialized monthly through Shinchosha's ''Kurage Bunch'' manga website from February 2014 to January 2018 and collected in six ''tankōbon'' volumes. An English release of the manga is licensed in North America by Yen Press. A 12-episode anime television adaptation produced by White Fox, mainly covering the manga's first four volumes, aired in Japan from October to December 2017. The is a Japanese speculative fiction award given each year for the best science fiction works and achievements during the previous calendar year. Organized and overseen by , the awards are given at the annual Nihon SF Taikai, Japan Science Fiction Convention. It is the oldest SF award in Japan, being given since the 9th Japan Science Fiction Convention in 1970.
