Truro RFC is a Cornish rugby union club that is based in the city of Truro and was formed in 1885. The club's colours are blue and yellow and they operate 2 senior men's teams, a women's team, a colts side and various mini/junior teams (ages 7–16). The men's first team currently play in Regional 2 Tribute South West - a league at level 6 of the English rugby union system. History Truro RFC are one of the oldest rugby union clubs in Cornwall having been founded in 1885. Despite being one of the senior clubs in the county the club has only started to experience success in more recent times. With the advent of the Courage National Leagues in 1987, Truro were placed in Western Counties - ranked at tier 7 of the English rugby union league system. Rugby union in Cornwall ( kw, unyans rugbi) is Cornwall's most popular spectator sport with a large following. The followers of the national side are dubbed Trelawny's Army. In 1991 and 1999 Cornwall won the County Championship final played at Twickenham Stadium, beating Yorkshire and Gloucestershire respectively to win the Cup. They had another strong spell in the 2010s, reaching seven of the eight finals contested between 2013 and 2022 (meeting either Cheshire or Lancashire on every occasion), winning four of them. Berry Hill Rugby Football Club is a rugby union club located in Coleford, Gloucestershire. The first XV currently plays in Gloucester Premier, an eighth tier league in the English rugby union system. The club also operates two additional senior sides and a junior section. League history When the league system was established in 1987, Berry Hill was placed in South West 2. It was a successful season for the club as not only did they win promotion but Berry Hill also reached the last 16 of the John Player Cup. Rugby Union Bonus Points System
Bonus points are group tournament points awarded in rugby union tournaments in addition to the standard points for winning or drawing a match. Bonus points were implemented in order to encourage attacking play throughout a match, to discourage repetitive goal-kicking, and to reward teams for "coming close" in losing efforts. Standard system The most common point system is: * 4 points for winning a match * 2 points for drawing a match * 0 points for losing a match * 1 losing bonus point for losing by 7 points (or fewer) * 1 try bonus point for scoring (at least) 4 tries, regardless of the outcome. The RFU Senior Vase is a rugby union national knockout cup competition in England run by the Rugby Football Union, which has been competed for since the 2006–07 season. It is contested for by teams at level 8 of the English rugby union system, with only 1st XV sides being allowed to enter. The competition is a national one but is split into regions until the semi-finals with the final being held at Twickenham Stadium in London. The 2004–05 Powergen Cup was the 34th annual rugby union cup competition in England. Leeds Tykes won the competition for the first time in their history. The event was sponsored by Powergen and the final was held at Twickenham Stadium. This was the last season in which the competition was confined to English teams only; from the 2005-06 season, the Welsh regional teams joined to form the Anglo-Welsh Cup. South West Premier
Regional 1 South West (formerly South West Premier and National League 3 South West) is a level five league in the English rugby union system. It is one of six leagues at this level. When this division began in 1987 it was known as South West Division 1. The format of the league was changed at the beginning of the 2009–10 season following reorganisation by the Rugby Football Union, and the name change from National League 3 to South West Premier was introduced for the 2017–18 season by the RFU in order to lessen confusion for what is a series of regional leagues. Regional 1 South West, is the highest regional rugby union league covering South West England. The club finishing in first place is automatically promoted to National League 2 West. Charlton Park RFC
Charlton Park Rugby Football Club, based at Broad Walk in Kidbrooke, are one of south east London's most prominent rugby union clubs. Founded in 1893, the club plays in red and white hoops. Despite appearing in many finals (the first in 1906), Charlton Park have never won the Kent Cup. The club's greatest success saw promotion to National League Three South alongside established national league sides such as Weston Super Mare, Newbury R.F.C., Plymouth Albion and Worcester Rugby (who have since spent several seasons in the Aviva Premiership) in 1996. The first XV were promoted to London 1 South following promotion in 2014 and relegated after two seasons there.
