Trumera
Trumera GAA is a hurling and Gaelic football club in County Laois, Ireland. History The present Trumera GAA Club was formed at a meeting in Trumera National School in winter 1968. An earlier version of Trumera was set up at a gathering of interested people in the 1920s. The team reached a county Junior semi-final against Mountmellick in 1927. They lost that game and the team faded out soon afterwards. All through the seventies and eighties the club competed in the Laois Junior Hurling Championship without any great success. The nineties brought a change of fortune with the club reaching its first league final in 1990. Since then, the club has won Junior C, Junior B, Junior A, and in 2004 the Laois Intermediate Hurling Championship and also reached the Leinster Junior Club Hurling Championship final narrowly losing out to Galmoy. Laois Junior Hurling Championship
The Laois Junior Hurling Championship is an annual hurling competition contested by lower-tier Laois GAA clubs. Ballypickas are the title holders (2021) defeating near neighbours Abbeyleix in the Final. Ballypickas are both the current holders and joint most winners at this grade along with Camross (8). Honours The trophy presented to the winners is the Fr Phelan Cup. The winners of the Laois Junior Championship qualify to represent their county in the Leinster Junior Club Hurling Championship. Laois All-County Football League
The Laois All-County Football League (ACFL) is an annual Gaelic football competition contested by Laois GAA clubs. There are seven divisions and teams are promoted and relegated according to their league standing each year. Prior to the inception of the All-County Football League, league competitions titled the Senior Football League, Intermediate Football League and Junior Football League were in place. These would have roughly equated to the current top three or four divisions in the ACFL. Hurling ( ga, iománaíocht, ') is an outdoor team game of ancient Gaelic Irish origin, played by men. One of Ireland's native Gaelic games, it shares a number of features with Gaelic football, such as the field and goals, the number of players and much terminology. The same game played by women is called camogie ('), which shares a common Gaelic root. Gaelic football ( ga, Peil Ghaelach; short name '), commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA or Football is an Irish team sport. It is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or punching the ball into the other team's goals (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goals and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the football up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands).
