Triathlon At The 1995 Pan American Games
The triathlon competitions at the 1995 Pan American Games in Mar del Plata, Argentina, were scheduled on March 26. Triathlon is a sport that combines three different modalities, in which competitors compete for the best overall time. In total, 57 triathletes participated in the two events in the sport. In the women's event, the American Karen Smyers won the gold medal. The podium was completed by Canadians Kristie Otto and Fiona Cribb, silver and bronze medalists, respectively. In the men's event, Brazil won the competition with Leandro Macedo. He was followed by Canadian Mark Bates and Argentine Oscar Galíndez. Events Triathlon was included in the Pan American calendar in 1993. Two years later, the events were scheduled for March 26 in Mar del Plata. Carla Moreno (born September 19, 1976 in São Carlos) is an athlete from Brazil, who competes in triathlon. She won the silver medal at the 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Moreno competed at the first Olympic triathlon at the 2000 Summer Olympics. She was one of two Brazilian athletes, along with Mariana Ohata, not to finish the competition. Sharon Donnelly (born July 29, 1967 in Toronto, Ontario) is an athlete from Canada, who competed in triathlon (1.5-km Swimming (sport), swim, 40-km Bicycle, cycle, 10-km run). Donnelly graduated from the Royal Military College of Canada in 1990, (17324) with a B.A. (Commerce), and served as an Army Logistics Officer for 5 years. She won the gold medal at the 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. To pursue a spot on the 2000 Olympic team, Donnelly transferred to the Reserves in 1995 and competed at the first Olympic triathlon at the 2000 Summer Olympics. She took thirty-eighth place with a total time of 2:14:35.59. She continued racing with an aim of making a second Olympic team in 2004 but missed inclusion by 22 seconds. Mario Alberto Santana (born 23 December 1981) is an Argentine football coach and former professional player, in the role of winger. Club career Early career Santana started his career in his native country with San Lorenzo. After his contract with San Lorenzo expired, he decided to try his luck in European football, moving to Italy in January 2002 for Serie A team Venezia, then relegated at the end of the season. He then followed his chairman Maurizio Zamparini to Serie B team Palermo, where he showed high qualities in his role. In 2003, he was then loaned to Serie A side A.C.
