Mont-Tremblant () is a city in the Laurentian Mountains of Quebec, Canada, approximately northwest of Montreal and northeast of Ottawa, Ontario. The current municipality with city status was formed in 2000. Mont-Tremblant is most famous for its ski resort, the Mont-Tremblant Ski Resort, which is seven kilometres from the village proper, at the foot of a mountain called Mont Tremblant (derived from local Algonquins who referred to it as the "trembling mountain"). Mont-Tremblant has a race track called Circuit Mont-Tremblant. It has hosted or currently hosts Formula One, Can-Am, Trans-Am, and Champ Car World Series competitions and Ironman triathlon, Quebec. Mont Tremblant Resort
Mont Tremblant Ski Resort (commonly referred to as Tremblant) is a year-round resort in the Laurentian Mountains of Quebec, Canada, located about northwest of Montreal. It is best known as a ski destination, but also features Lake Tremblant suitable for swimming and two golf courses in the summer months. The name of the mountain, Mont Tremblant, was derived from the Algonquin indigenous people, who called it the "trembling mountain." The summit is at an elevation of , which makes it one of the tallest peaks in the Laurentians. Mont-Tremblant National Park (french: Parc national du Mont-Tremblant) is a provincial park in Canada located north of the town of Mont-Tremblant, and the village of Saint-Donat and Saint-Côme, in the administrative regions of Laurentides and Lanaudière, in Quebec, in Canada. It is Quebec's oldest provincial park and its fourth largest after Kuururjuaq National Park. It takes its name from Mont-Tremblant. Lac-Tremblant-Nord is a small village and municipality in the Laurentides region of Quebec, Canada, part of the Les Laurentides Regional County Municipality. Its territory surrounds the northern portion of Lake Tremblant, includes Bibite Lake, and extends to Gervais Lake. The village is located on the south shore of the Lake Tremblant, a few kilometres west of the Mont Tremblant Resort. Permanent inhabitants of Lac-Tremblant-Nord are few, but its population increases greatly during summer and winter holidays. The Urban agglomeration of Mont-Tremblant is an urban agglomeration in Quebec that consists of the city of Mont-Tremblant and the municipality of Lac-Tremblant-Nord. History As part of the 2000–2006 municipal reorganization in Quebec, the city of Mont-Tremblant was created on November 8, 2001 by the merger of the municipality of Mont-Tremblant, the city of Saint-Jovite, the parish municipality of Saint-Jovite, and the municipality of Lac-Tremblant-Nord. Lake Tremblant (French: ''Lac Tremblant'') is a lake in the Laurentides region of Quebec, Canada, at the foot of the eponymous Mont Tremblant. Circuit Mont-Tremblant
Circuit Mont-Tremblant () is a race circuit about south of the village of Mont-Tremblant, Quebec, Canada. The name of the village of Saint-Jovite was often included in the name of the circuit, but since the village was amalgamated into Mont-Tremblant in the year 2000, it is no longer considered or functions as an independent entity. History The first two sections of the circuit were built in 1964 and extended by another mile into September 1965. The extension featured long straights and by virtue of the terrain, a small hill. Nicknamed "the Hump" it gained legendary status during the inaugural 1966 Can Am race. Two drivers in practice found that their cars, both near identical Lola T70 CanAm cars, launched themselves into the air. Both drivers emerged unhurt but were unable to compete in the race. Mont Tremblant (foaled 1946) was a French-bred, British-trained Thoroughbred racehorse who won the 1952 Cheltenham Gold Cup. Originally trained in France, he was switched to a British stable and made an immediate impact, defeating a strong field to win the Gold Cup as a six-year-old. In the following season he finished third in the King George VI Chase and fourth in the Gold Cup before producing arguably his best performance by running second under top weight in the Grand National. His later career was repeatedly interrupted by injury. Background Mont Tremblant was a chestnut gelding with a white blaze and three white socks bred in France by François Dupré. He was sired by the Prix du Cadran winner Gris Perle, a representative of the Byerley Turk sire-line.
