Arthur Trebitsch
Arthur Trebitsch (1880–1927) was an Austrian writer and racial theorist, known for being an antisemite of Jewish origin. He offered his services to help the fledgling Nazis to write their antisemitic literature, and was an influence on the early development of the Austrian branch of the Nazi party. Life Arthur Trebitsch was born on 17 April 1880 in Vienna, the son of wealthy Jewish silk industrialist Leopold Trebitsch. His older half-brother was the writer Siegfried Trebitsch. As a young man he came under the influence of fellow student Otto Weininger and the racial theorist Houston Stewart Chamberlain, whose Viennese circles he frequented. Ignatius Timothy Trebitsch-Lincoln ( hu, Trebitsch-Lincoln Ignác, german: link=no, Ignaz Thimoteus Trebitzsch; 4 April 1879 – 6 October 1943) was a Hungarian-born adventurer and convicted con artist. Of Jewish descent, he spent parts of his life as a Protestant missionary, Anglican priest, British Member of Parliament for Darlington, German right-wing politician and spy, Nazi collaborator and Buddhist abbot in China. Siegfried Trebitsch
Siegfried Trebitsch (1868–1956) was an Austrian playwright, translator, novelist and poet. Though prolific as a writer in various genres, he was best known for his German translations, especially of the works of the Irish playwright George Bernard Shaw, with whom he kept up a long and detailed correspondence. He is also known for translations of French writers, especially Georges Courteline. Life Trebitsch was born on 22 December 1868, into a wealthy secular Jewish family, who "taught him nothing of Judaism of Christianity". His brother Arthur Trebitsch, despite his Jewish origin, became a noted Antisemite and early supporter of the Nazis. Nahum Trebitsch
Menahem Nahum Trebitsch (, ; August 14, 1779, Prague – July 4, 1842, Prague) was a Czech rabbi. Biography He was a son of Selig Trebitsch, '' ḥazzan'' at the Old New Synagogue, and he received a thorough Talmudical training at the yeshiva of Jacob Günsberg. Upon the recommendation of the Landesrabbiner Mordecai Benet, Trebitsch became rabbi of Prostějov in 1826. On May 13, 1832, the government confirmed the election of Trebitsch as Landesrabbiner of Moravia, in succession to Mordecai Benet, and granted him a salary of 600 florins; he was the last Moravian "Landesrabbiner" of the old school. Gyula Trebitsch (3 November 1914 - 12 December 2005) was a German film producer born in Budapest, Hungary. Abraham Trebitsch
Abraham ben Reuben Trebitsch (about 1760 in Trebitsch, Moravia – between 1800 and 1850 in Nikolsburg) was an Austrian Jewish scholar. He attended the yeshibah of Löb Fischels at Prague in 1775 ("Ḳorot ha-'Ittim," p. 24a), and then settled in Nikolsburg, where he became secretary to the Landesrabbiner. He was the author of "Ḳorot ha-'Ittim," a history of the European monarchs, including the emperors of Austria, from 1741 to 1801 (part i., Brünn, 1801; with additions, under the title "Ḳorot Nosafot," up to the year 1830, by Jacob Bodek, Lemberg, 1841). It deals especially with the history and literature of the Jews in the Austrian states. Třebíč (; german: Trebitsch; yi, טרייביטש Treybitsh) is a town in the Vysočina Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 34,000 inhabitants. The beginnings of the town's history are connected with the establishment of a Benedictine monastery, where the castle is located today. In the age of its expansion, Třebíč was the third most important town in Moravia. The population growth started after World War II. There are several well-known tourist sights in the town. The Jewish Quarter and St. Procopius Basilica were listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2003 because of their testimony to cultural interchange across several centuries and the remarkable architecture within the site.
